Iraqis Say US Created ISIS, Threaten Military Force if New Wave of US Troops Doesn’t Leave Now

Washington, D.C. – Thirteen years after America invaded Iraq, and three years after that war officially ended – U.S. boots are once again on the ground operating in Iraq under the dubious pretense of “fighting ISIS,” the Pentagon announced on Sunday.

In response to the U.S. deployment, Iraqi Shia militia forces warned (https://www.rt.com/news/336434-iraq-shia-militia-us/) that if American forces aren’t “immediately” withdrawn they will be dealt with as “forces of occupation.”

The United States are “making a new suspicious attempt to restore their presence in the country under the pretext of fighting their own creation, Daesh (ISIS),” the Asaib Ahl al-Haq militia said on its TV channel, al-Ahd on Monday, as quoted by Reuters.
A group of Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, or MEU, will be deployed on the ground, the US military said on Sunday, according to Reuters.

The 26th MEU is a 2,200-strong Marine air-ground task force, and one of seven Marine Expeditionary Units currently in the United States Marine Corps, according to the corps’ official website.

The U.S. deployment adds to the roughly 3,600 Army personnel already serving in Iraq, and comes on the heels of U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter’s comments in January regarding plans to increase U.S. military operations in Iraq under the auspices of fighting the Islamic State.
+“We’re looking for opportunities to do more, and there will be boots on the ground — I want to be clear about that,” Carter said.
There is widespread suspicion in the region that the Islamic State is a U.S. geopolitical creation, and that the U.S. uses the terror threat as a means of hedging against Iranian influence in Iraq, as well as to exert its military geopolitical will in the region under the auspices of “fighting terror.”

The Hezbollah movement within Iraq also publicly condemned the announced U.S. deployment, making clear its opposition to the U.S.’s “occupation of regional states,” according to the Iranian Fars news agency.

In spite of the Iraqi government informing the U.S. that assistance was not needed in fighting the threat from Islamist extremists, the Pentagon unilaterally decided to send the military detachment to fight against the Islamic State in Iraq after a rocket attack killed a U.S. marine (http://www.wsj.com/articles/death-of-u-s-marine-in-iraq-points-to-deeper-u-s-involvement-1458574821) last week.

Perhaps the most interesting development in the past 13 years since the invasion of Iraq is that the U.S. political elite no longer feel compelled to gain public approval (http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/mar/21/us-making-same-mistakes-as-iraq-invasion-military-intervention) to send U.S. service men and women to die for what essentially amounts to geopolitical energy interests that underpin the U.S. dominance of the global economy.

Note that in spite of President Obama stating no less than 16 times, (http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2015/10/30/16-times-obama-said-there-would-no-boots-ground-syria/74869884/) that there would be no U.S. “boots on the ground” in Syria and Iraq – there are now U.S. boots on the ground in both countries.
