Suddenly, one day all cards and ATM's stop working. This was triggered by some catastrophic event/false flag.

Ghetto people are the first to riot and loot but after a few days everybody else start doing the same. It will get extremely ugly in the US because of all the firepower. Martial law will be declared and everybody will get some new card to buy food only at first. This card will be the basis for a new currency. . Forget about your old bank account because everything will be bailed in. Cash will be worthless at this point because only the new card will be accepted.
I don't think they will go for an implantable chip right away because there's too many things that could go wrong. Everything will be dead basic at first. The card will bring about instant communism.
Banks may very well all disappear after this and only the government will control the cards.
The big question in all of this is what will happen to gold, silver, stocks, property titles and so on after this?

Food card will work as well as my czechoslovakian CZ82 with an armorment of backup clips and ammo. Altho not so popular in the US no one can use it after it's out of my hands. But in my hands it's not a squirt gun. If I don't have it in my hands I wont need to be scouring the earth for a replacement, my time will be done.

I'll think they sit around waiting for the national guard/homeland security to come and bring them their rations, probably with a lot of increase in violence, but a lot of happening between closing store and cannibalism.

Here is what will happen:

The economy will continue to fall with inflation, unemployment, higher rents and mortgages, loss of property. More peeps moving into cities. TPTB will take over rural housing and land.

TPTB will localize disasters in large cities and suburbs to kill off millions at a time.

They will also poison the food supply, air (aerial spraying)and water to depopulate large areas.

Before the peeps can rebel, TPTB will have already gained the upper hand by terror, turning off water, electricity, food supply, gasoline, trash, sewerage.

Exactly I just had a 35 ton water cistern built, to collect rainwater for my bug-out location. Will use a barrel of sand to filtrate the water through to get drinking water, pumped out from the cistern with a solar cell powered pump. This autumn my vineyard will produce enough grapes to make a couple of hundred bottles of wine. And since a couple of years the house has solar powered led lights. Firewood to keep warm I can pick from the forest, next to the property.
