RALEIGH, NC—In what many political observers are calling a new low in an election season that has already seen its share of negative campaigning, a scathing anti–Ted Cruz attack ad airing this week reportedly shows nothing more than a still photograph of the Texas senator’s face for 30 seconds, unaccompanied by any text, voiceover, or music....
...
“This is an extremely vicious jab at Ted Cruz, and one that succeeds in painting the candidate in a most unfavorable light,” said Douglas Reisenthaler, a senior analyst with Public Policy Polling, who described the ad as by far the most unrelenting and hostile attack to air since the 2016 election cycle began. “Inevitably, some voters will be turned off by the maliciousness of showing an unretouched headshot of Ted Cruz on television screens across America, but it has nonetheless proved very effective in turning public opinion against his candidacy.”...

I know it's from the Onion, but seriously, having to stare at his ugly face for 30 seconds might actually turn a lot of people off to him.

Cruz's college roommate is on an epic 10-month Twitter rant

There have been a fair share of Twitter rants during the presidential campaign, but the one from Ted Cruz’s college roommate puts Donald Trump to shame not only for its harsh, biting commentary but also for its incredible duration.
Craig Mazin, a Hollywood screenwriter and director and Cruz’s freshman roommate at Princeton, has been sounding off on Cruz since he was elected to the senate in 2012.
For example:
Oh great. Ted Cruz is filibustering. Now the entire nation can experience my noxious freshman year dorm room experience. #havefuneveryone
— Craig Mazin (@clmazin) September 24, 2013
Mazin has seriously kicked it up a notch since Cruz launched his presidential campaign in March 2015 and has been one of his most vocal critics. There are personal shots from their time together 25 years ago, but he also weighs in on Cruz’s positions as they relate to the presidential campaign.
The hatred clearly runs deep.
“I would rather have anybody else be the president of the United States,” Mazin told the Daily Beast in 2013. “Anyone. I would rather pick somebody from the phone book.”
He’s also called Cruz “a nightmare of a human being.”
“I have plenty of problems with his politics, but truthfully his personality is so awful that 99 percent of why I hate him is just his personality,” Mazin said on the Scriptnotes podcast in October 2013. “If he agreed with me on every issue, I would hate him only one percent less.”
Mazin isn’t alone in his dislike of Cruz, as Donald Trump has called him a “nasty guy” while saying “nobody gets along with Ted.”
Recently, his favorability rating has been dropping in the polls, supporting some of the statements made by Mazin and Trump.
Mazin’s Twitter rant against Cruz has gained so much traction that those on social media have been egging him on with loaded questions, resulting in the Cruz rant pretty much taking over his feed.
While Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary results were being tallied, one person asked if Cruz had any odd hobbies in college.

Ted Cruz once argued to ban sex toys. His college roommate just revealed why that was hypocritical.
April 13, 2016
Back in 2004, Ted Cruz's solicitor general office fought to defend a ruling in Texas that found selling sex toys was not protected by the Constitution. In his brief, Cruz's office defended the obscenity law by saying that "any alleged right associated with obscene devices" is not "deeply rooted in the nation's history and traditions."
Then came the real whammy. The brief went even further, asserting that, "There is no substantive-due-process right to stimulate one's genitals for non-medical purposes unrelated to procreation or outside of an interpersonal relationship." In other words, as Mother Jones explains, Cruz effectively argued that "the pursuit of such happiness had no constitutional standing."
Now at least one person is calling Cruz a hypocrite for holding such an opinion — his college roommate.
Oh yes.
Craig Mazin was Cruz's freshman roommate at Princeton University, and you might say he isn't too big of a fan of the Texas senator. As the Sun Times reports, Mazin has been nipping at Cruz's heels since he was elected to the Senate in 2012. This, however, might be Mazin's crowning reveal:
Well. Have a good rest of your day! Jeva Lange

Previous questions have surfaced about the 1960s activities of Rafael Cruz, Sr., the father of GOP presidential hopeful Rafael Cruz, Jr. (Ted Cruz). Based on the presence of the elder Cruz, an anti-Castro activist, in Dallas and New Orleans before the November 22, 1963, assassination of President John F. Kennedy, there is a strong reason to believe that Cruz was associated with Central Intelligence Agency's anti-Castro operations.
