Lot's of big potential events on the horizon...
1) Martial at election time. Obama just signed unlimited powers during martial law. Could unrest happen to keep Trump out of the white house?
http://gold-silver.us/forum/showthread.php?89483-FOX-NEWS-Obama-signs-Executive-Order-for-possible-MARTIAL-LAW-in-AUGUST-2016
2) China. China is the leading producer of gold, they also buying as much as they can, and furthermore keeping how much gold they have a big secret. Lot's of talk about a gold backed yuan, and death of the dominance of the dollar. Good article.
http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/tag/gold-backed-yuan
3) North Korea and nuclear satellites creating an emp wiping out the US.
4) Collapse of Europe over immigration.
5) An over inflated stock market that's due to collapse.
Good article here, stock market is 80% overvalued.

not in any of our lifetimes -- the collapse pushers are selling something...or have been sold something
debt is the problem. debt has no adjustment built in for currency debasement. so the pigmen will debase at whatever rate necessary to maintain their dominion.
this is why deflationists have been wrong forever...and will continue to be wrong for as far as the eye can see
remember the great inflation/deflation debates of several years ago? all of the loser deflationists proclaim -- it would have happened if frbny didn't step in. of course they stepped in - it's what they do. bailouts, monetizing debt, operation twist -- all been done before...and will be done again

If you mean the next big financial collapse, I say any time. I think we're overdue for a major correction, which this time would likely result in a major collapse.

The collapse is underway and has been for years. It will continue for years. The US standard of living will continue to grind lower. The population will continue to become increasingly ignorant, entitled and violent. Businesses will continue to vanish and cities slowly decay. It's all happening before our eyes. Holders of gold and silver best be very secretive about their holdings and discrete in their transactions. Because the majority of folk will become increasingly desperate and dishonest. The central banks will print and print - they have no other tool. Stock markets will decline in real terms though they may rise nominally. In real terms, gold and silver will continue to rise largely unnoticed by most.

This is probably, I think, our biggest concern. If the collapse doesn't happen before Trump gets into the white house, likely he may turn things around. My concern is that TPTB will collapse the system in order to keep Trump out. Martial law, no elections, etc. Something big is going to happen in the next few months.
And, yes Mick, canned foods are a good idea, along with freeze dried foods.

Add in the fact that there seems to be a currency war going on internationally. Other countries are sick and tired of our money printing, and the us dollar.

If you have a bug-out plan and have to bug out, bitcoins are way easier to take with you than a monster box of eagles.

Sounds like sparky's assessment as well. Yes, the slow decline will probably be the dominant trend for the next generation or two, but it could be peppered with financial panics such as '08-09.

Although it could happen at any time, I'd guess that the big collapse will occur within next 2-3 years. Until then we'll have warning signs like smaller busts and more bailouts here and there.
My intuition tells me that by the end 2020 everything will have been "liquidated", when AI is ready to really take over.
Douglas Dietrich is a new fav of mine, very well versed in ALL topics, utube him.

There are many, many disaster scenarios which do not involve the full loss of the grid. I think that planning for those contingencies, along with full TEOTWAWKI disasters is a prudent and wise thing to do. If for any reason me and my family need to escape the US you can bet your ass I won't be hauling a backpack full of gold and silver when I do it.

I'm fully stocked so let it come. We need the correction and those snowflakes that rely on the system to feed them will be among the first to perish, and rightfully so. All that will be a good thing

Although its been predicted for this year , its difficult to see it happening in a presidential election year as normally they make everything rosy that year.
How about a day after Trump is sworn in............

I'm fairly prepared, but not as much as a lot of you folks. I know I will be fine though, I've got what I need to survive, but probably won't have many comforts after awhile.
While I agree, there's some good things that a big collapse can bring about. It will be tough for a lot of people, good people, who just aren't prepared. I'm sure you know some, as I do. The good thing, is that it will be a cultural change for our society. Like the saying, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.
Personally, at this point, I hope Sparky and Mamboni are right. A slow decline, because anyone smart enough can adapt to that and protect themselves. The band-aid ripping off quickly, like in a collapse, is going to be one big sucker punch, to most of us, no matter how prepared we think we are.

If/when we get close to that day. Everyone reading this should stock up on anything they may need, batteries, candles, coffee filters, it all. And, top off the fuel tanks of every vehicle you own. If you have water tanks, like I do, top them up.

I have heard it is hard to get the flavor out when you fill a water tank with gasoline.
