LEAGUE CITY, TX (KTRK) --
A robbery suspect was shot and killed in a League City restaurant parking lot this afternoon.
It happened just a little after 2pm today. Police say a man and his young child were in the drive-thru of the McDonald's at 102 South State Highway 3 when another man tried to rob them.
During the robbery attempt, the driver shot the suspect multiple times.
Vanessa Stanford, who was working across the street at the time, heard three shots. She said, "I looked over and a man was lying on the ground with another man aiming a gun at him. While he was lying on the ground, that's immediately when I called 911 and told my customers get away from the wall and the windows."
The suspect was transported to Clear Lake Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
League City PD: man in truck has concealed carry license & used his gun to shot suspect 3 times. Suspect later died at hospital.

LCPD believes this is a case of self defense. Man in truck had 4 y.o. son in the back seat. He was not hurt. Man being interviewed now.

"A male approached him, pointed a pistol at him," said League City Police Sgt. John Jordan. "He was a concealed license holder. From that point a struggle ensued at the truck and he fired at the suspect."
Stanford said, "He had his son with him and everything. When I looked over, there was a lady holding his son, making sure his son didn't see anything. And I saw the guy on the ground."
The driver is cooperating fully with police. The case is under investigation and is expected to go to the grand jury.
