For a long time now. These days I turn my cash into firearms and ammo. Prices are continuing to rise as the elections draw near and some things you wont be able to get. A while back i bought three Saigas in x62 for 550 each. Theyre going for 7-800 if you can get them.

I stack pre 1982 pennies. They are copper, I'm doing quite well, I probably have several hundred of them over the years. Vary rarely, I will find a silver dime and stack that too.

I've got that stuff too. Mostly historical militarily stuff. Some USGI/German/Russian WWII rifles in my collection. The longer I keep them the more they're worth. It's part of my precious metal part of my retirement portfolio :)

Back in '08 or '09 when Steve Quayle was shouting about some disaster in the oceans which will make seafood obsolete in the next few years, he warned that sardines would go for $10/can. So I bought a case of sardines for around 50 cents a can. I still have it somewhere, I wonder how long sardines last?
Edit: Awesome, he's still doing it:BUY SARDINES IMMEDIATELY (https://thearmageddontimes.com/2015/05/06/steve-quayle-alert-buy-canned-turkey-chicken-beef-sardines-as-your-budget-allow-immediately/)

The best before date on my cans are usually around 4 years later when I buy the mackerel in tomato sauce. I figure it would probably still be good another 4 years down the line, maybe even longer because I store them in the cool root cellar.

The only thing that I can think of is the acidity in the tomato sauce may eat through the can lining. In that case you may end up having can flavored sardines if you wait too long

Neuro's cans are mackerel; mine are the sardines. I have them in water, mustard, and hot sauce varieties. If you're interested, I'll set up an ad in the buy/sell section and sell you them before they go for $10/tin per Steve Quayle.

I think you should find your stash, open a can, and give us a review, they should be some 3-4 years after best before date. I suspect they are still fine, unless you stored them in the garage where it goes up to 150° on sunny days in the summer...

Hell no I didn't store them in a hot garage! I kept them in an interior air-conditioned storage closet while we lived in TX, but now they're in my crawlspace somewhere where it's nice and cool and dry. If I can find them I will open up a tin and do a review.

Yeah, I saw....you got the metal aftertaste...not surprised. Maybe lots of hot sauce if you really had to eat it
