Congratulate me. Short walk in the woods to fix a fence resulted in finding a patch of morel mushrooms ... estimated 5 pounds worth.

Those who don't know what these are ... too bad ... so sad!!!

used to mushroom hunt. had to get up early to beat the cows, to the mushrooms. We didn't beat our cows btw.

I see the occasional crop in peoples yards here and there. Used to be a patch on public land not far from me but it has not produced in multiple years. Most people have been led to believe that everything is a toadstool. So they won't touch them even when its clearly a mushroom. I like em big, round, fried and on toast with my bacon, h browns and what ever else I feel like frying up of a sunday morning.

There is a magic forest in the south of the state where every year around this time a game of hide and go seek occurs. Magic carpet riders on one side and the angry blue gnomes on the other, dash through the forest dancing amongst the special shrooms. If you're unlucky or not swift of foot you could end up in a gnome dungeon for a time.

Great score! If my wife knew where you lived, she'd be on her way to burgle your home.

what good are they?
Beat an egg, roll em in cracker crumbs, fry em in butter til crispy on the surface. Nothing finer.

can you farm them? People try. Mostly these folks are too lazy to search nature for her bounty.
