That's what you get for having a stupid daughter. In mount everest, if you spend less, you die. It's not disneyland folks.

I fucking hate these people. You see firsthand the sort of bullshit leftism causes, move away from anti-white racial violence, and then proceed to support anti-white sentiments in the white, Western world? Fuck your martyr complex.
But instead, it fucked you! Didn't think about that, did you? That you might actually be "proving" that vegans die just as easily on Mt. Everest as other people, because no matter how much idiots treat it like a tourist spot, it's still the highest mountain in the fucking world, and really dangerous.
So we have one less traitor, leftist, vegan, AND idiot Everest climber?
That is absolutely amazing, and wonderful. Her mother is seriously a piece of shit for acting like climing Mt. Everest should have been a walk in the park. For fuck's sake, people know this shit going in. I bet this dumb bitch coddled her mother with all that "vegans strong" talk, instead of laying the cold, hard truth on there. Mt. Everest is a lethal mountain, and it eats idiots.
-------------
Look at what this fucking bitch is saying
>"We are totally devastated. Everything we did was to get her body back, because they just abandon bodies on the mountain if they're dead. If you're alive, they try to rescue you, like they did with Rob. If you didn't survive they leave you on the mountain. So our whole fight was just to get her off that mountain and back home,"
It's like she never even fucking HEARD of Mt. Everest. Like she's been living in a fucking bubble all her life. NOBODY gets removed from Mt. Everest, because just carrying your own carcass up there is hard enough that it kills a significant number of people who try. Let alone dragging back some worthless sack of bones. The bodies stay intact, up there, BECAUSE NOTHING LIVES THERE.
I fucking hate this family. Arrogant, ignorant, idiots. I hope the mother goes up there looking for her daughter's remains.

I can''t make out of the comments are yours or not.
If they are then You didn't clearly listen or watch to the video. So you must be taking someone else's comments as being what was said by this lady. She didn't say anything suggesting she was angry or someone should pay or be sued.
Either way who ever made the comments didn't listen to the interview and just jumped to conclusions and keyboard jockeyed themselves into an angry frenzy. So maybe we should look into their history a bit more. Find out what experience they had and preparations etc. I know a few people who have summited Everest. Would be interesting to get their take.

Dying at the top or on the way down from Everest happens.
Does being a vegan have anything to do with it?
I doubt it.
I assume (note the word "assume") that she was getting protein etc., from the vegan available sources and other nutrition, and I assume she trained physically for the climb.

right, how many did die from altitude sickness (and other hazards) that were NOT vegans while climbing the mount everest

I am vegan-vegetarian (sometimes doesnt eat meat, chicken or beef, for 3-6 weeks in a row and feel GREAT)

She did it to prove how awesome veganism was. That's the point. It's ironic.

That is the wrong motivation to begin with to climb any mountain. Actually any -ism shouldn't be a part of the equation, they are only mental constructs and a distraction and an obstacle for any task that require focus and dedication.
Vegans are often anemic due to diet being iron deficient. At 8,000 meters that may make the difference between life and death... To climb that mother you need to do everything necessary to optimize your chance of success!

DING DING DING! We have a winner.
The woman died of HAPE, high altitude pulmonary edema....AND drum roll...what is the initial causes of this...a shortage of oxygen at low air pressure (altitude).
Low Fe count/low air pressure ---> reduction in oxygen uptake ----> rapid onset of pulmonary edema ----> death.
She may well have had healthy blood Fe levels, its not the first time a climber died of HAPE, but FFS it sure doesn't help being vegan.

She made her veganism a part of it, to try and prove that veganism doesn't make you thin and weak. Others have already pointed this out, but her diet very likely did contribute to her inability to survive.

Vegans are STUPID!!
1 Timothy 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
1 Corinthians 6:13a Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats......

makes no sense, how many omnivorous died climbing everest so far... ???
There is no firm count of the exact number of climbers that have died on Mount Everest, but as of early 2014 it is about 265 people.
http://climbing.about.com/od/mountainclimbing/a/Death-On-Mount-Everest.htm
how can we make ONE conclusion based on ONE case of reported veganism? How scientific is this???
the only mistake she made is to brag about her veganism. she should have known that it would be used by the pro-meat brainwashing machine. Wonder how many die from colon cancer yearly due to over eating meat. Meat can stay up to 2 days in the low intestine and ROT there until it pushed out.
My advice: do not eat more than 1lb of meat weekly, it is NOT necessary. Other foods are source of iron and calcium.
climbing the everest, a folly???

Of the nearly 1,000 internet articles generated by this story, some overtly questioned the safety of a vegan diet for climbers. By noting that she was a vegan in the headlines, every single one of the articles implied that this was somehow a relevant fact related to Dr. Maria Strydom’s death.
Dr. Strydom wasn’t some irresponsible dilettante when it came to big mountains. She was an experienced climber who had already summited Denali, Mount Ararat, and Kilimanjaro, among other peaks. It’s hard to imagine that she headed into this adventure poorly prepared and without making sure that her health was in good shape. That hasn’t stopped journalists and doctors and dietitians from questioning her diet.
A spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association told the BBC that consequences of a poor vegan diet would be increased fatigue due to lower iron levels, weaker muscles because of lower amino acid intake, and the risk of fractures from poor calcium intake.
Yes, those all could be consequences of a poor vegan diet. And guess what? They would be consequences of a poor omnivore diet as well. It’s not like iron deficiency anemia and osteoporosis are rarities among the general population. And are we really supposed to believe that someone who made it to Everest Base Camp and had already climbed Kilimanjaro had weak muscles?
If Dr. Strydom knew the basics of vegan nutrition and sports nutrition, there is no reason to think that she was any less prepared to climb Mt Everest than anyone else. A lot of people die in the extreme climates on these mountains, and most of them are smart athletes in excellent shape. It is unfair to single out one vegan climber and try to second guess why she died and to assume that her diet had something to do with it.
The truth is that a vegan diet is safe. Climbing Mt. Everest is dangerous

Heads I win, tails you lose.
She makes veganism a central issue of her climb. If she succeeds, veganism is awesome. If she fails, no one is allowed to point out the irony. Shami didn't make the connection between veganism and mountain climbing, the dead girl did.

I said that she should NOT have bragged. But to make the case against veganism and climbing the everest, we should have at least 25 certified veganic deaths.
one and sole same sample canNOT make a rule
she lost her bet, but it doesnt mean anything BASED on one certified vegan case. Assuming otherwise is
UNscientific. All the rest is trivial... and about semantic.

So the survival rate for vegans attempting to summit Everest is at 50%?
It appears to me that it sucks to be a vegan attempting to summit Everest.

I don't see any popups. The page opens, it says "loading" for several seconds, then a box says "continue". Click continue and it plays.
