The Democrats’ socialist candidate for President of the United States, Bernie Sanders, was seriously tripped up this week in an interview with Univision’s León Krauze.

When asked to explain the failure of socialist governments in Venezuela, Argentina and Brazil, Sanders completely clammed up, saying he has an opinion on the subject, but was unwilling to share it, as he is “focused on my campaign.”

LEÓN KRAUZE, UNIVISION: I am sure that you know about this topic: various leftist governments, especially the populists, are in serious trouble in Latin America. The socialist model in Venezuela has the country near collapse. Argentina, also Brazil, how do you explain that failure?

BERNIE SANDERS, DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE: You are asking me questions…

LEÓN KRAUZE, UNIVISION: I am sure you’re interested in that.

BERNIE SANDERS, DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE: I am very interested, but right now I’m running for President of the United States.

LEÓN KRAUZE, UNIVISION: So you don’t have an opinion about the crisis in Venezuela?

BERNIE SANDERS, DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE: Of course I have an opinion, but as I said, I’m focused on my campaign.

There you have it folks. Bernie Sanders is too busy selling socialism in the United States to discuss the catastrophic effects of socialism in major neighboring countries in the region like Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina. How…convenient. That’s not what his history of statements in favor of Castro in Cuba, Ortega in Nicaragua, or any of his other past endorsements of socialist governments in Latin America indicate.

Univision and Telemundo have actually distinguished themselves as the two principal U.S. broadcast networks that have devoted large blocks of coverage recently to the crisis of socialism in Venezuela, while thus far ABC, CBS and NBC have neglected to inform their audiences of the situation.

Liberalism is a mental disorder - blind faith in a failed ideology and the facts be damned!

I don't know how many times I've had this argument with my cousins who support this idiot. I asked for an example of Socialism actually working and one of them said Canada. I responded back with try again. It's failed so bad there that medical specialist wait list are months sometimes years out that there is an entire industry setup to cut through the red tape of getting checked out here in America.

Only if you have top notch insurance, if not you never get to see the doc. Unless of course you own anything of value which the bureaucracy will come get.

99% of those who support socialism believe and hope deep down that they will net positive out of the deal. Most people are intrinsically lazy and fearful. The thought of actually earning their keep through earnest sweat and toil is not very appealing. Others of us are repelled by the notion of consuming another man's just rewards. In short, socialists are shameless parasites who wear the sick and homeless like figleafs to disquise their morally and economically bankrupt ideology.

When they give an example of a country, it's usually a Whiter country. Ask if they suggested their example country since it's Whiter than America, and if that's what they really want.

They'll never give an example of a Shitskin Socialist country.

Sometimes though being on a waiting list can work to your benefit. In Sweden the experience with for instance lumbar disc herniation is that unless you are moderately or severely paralyzed or loss of urination control due to nerve compression, in which case a surgery should be immediately performed, due to the risk of permanent nerve damage. In cases there is a minor or moderate weakness, people are put on a 6 month waiting list, and 90% have recovered after 6 months, with no intervention, and a surgery isn't necessary.

My experience with my patients in Turkey is completely different. 80% of cases where a lumbar disc surgery has been recommended, doesn't even have the clinical manifestations typical of a hernia (usually they suffer from a dysfunctional sacro-iliac joint or hip joint degeneration). Of the remaining 20% with clinical signs and symptoms of a disc hernia, about 90-95% have mild to moderate disc hernia, and they recover fine on my care in 1-3 months. About 10% you could discuss whether a surgery is a good option. During my 9 years in Turkey I have recommended surgery in 8-9 cases, 3-4 cases immediately and the rest after a few sessions when not responding appropriately to the chiropractic adjustments.

The problem with market driven solutions is that it tends to drive people and doctors to the most costly and invasive options. There are good and honest doctors that give good advice, but I would say they are rare.

Socialist systems tend to have bottle necks where you have to wait too long time for necessary interventions, so I don't think that is good either.

I think third party payers should get out of health care altogether, it would lead to a cheaper more pragmatic treatment approaches. Sure some who could have gotten a few more years with an organ transplant surgery wouldn't get it in most cases, but that is the reality if you abuse your body, why should society or insurance payers at large pay for this, at enormous costs?
