ALERT: State Dept. issues new terror WARNING for U.S. citizens…

Written by Michelle Jesse, Associate Editor (http://www.allenbwest.com/author/michellejesse) on May 31, 2016

Call it the new normal. While it’s no longer surprising, it is nonetheless important to note that the U.S. State Department this afternoon issued a new travel warning for Europe, citing the potential for terrorist attacks in public places this summer.

Via Washington Free Beacon (http://freebeacon.com/national-security/state-department-travel-warning-europe-potential-terrorist-attacks/):
“We are alerting U.S. citizens to the risk of potential terrorist attacks throughout Europe, targeting major events, tourist sites, restaurants, commercial centers and transportation,” the department said in an alert (https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/alertswarnings/europe-travel-alert.html) posted Tuesday.

The travel alert expires on August 31, 2016, and specifically focuses on the risk for terror attacks as large crowds of tourists flock to Europe during the summer for several events. The warning specifically cited the European Soccer Championship in France, which is scheduled for June 10 through July 10 and will involve 24 national teams.
The French government has already extended a state of emergency first imposed following the coordinated Paris terror attacks last November.

“Euro Cup stadiums, fan zones, and unaffiliated entertainment venues broadcasting the tournaments in France and across Europe represent potential targets for terrorists, as do other large-scale sporting events and public gathering places throughout Europe,” the State Department said. “France has extended its state of emergency through July 26 to cover the period of the soccer championship, as well as the Tour de France cycling race which will be held from July 2- 24.”

The alert also mentioned the Catholic Church’s World Youth Day event in Krakow, Poland, between July 26 and 31, which is expected to draw as many as 2.5 million tourists.

“U.S. citizens should be aware that local infrastructure may be strained due to the large number of visitors,” the department warned. “Poland will impose border controls at all of its national borders from July 4 to August 2, and visitors to Poland during this period should be prepared to show their passport and undergo stricter security screening throughout Poland. ”

The agency encouraged U.S. citizens to “exercise vigilance” in public places and when taking modes of mass transportation, avoid crowded places, monitor media, and be prepared for increased security screening.

“Stay in touch with your family, have a plan if you are separated and ensure they know how to reach you in the event of an emergency,” the State Department said.

Check out the State Department’s complete posting (https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/alertswarnings/europe-travel-alert.html) for more information — especially if you or one of your loved ones are headed to Europe this summer.

Of course, travel alerts had previously been issued in the wake of the Paris attacks last November that killed 130 and the subsequent Brussels attacks in March that killed 35, for which ISIS claimed responsibility. These attacks hit restaurants, a concert hall, and a major stadium, as well as transportation infrastructure that included a subway station and international airpot.

We’ve reported previously on apparent terrorist plans to attack European beaches (http://www.allenbwest.com/michellejesse/alert-new-intel-reveals-concrete-plans-for-isis-attacks) this summer as well.

This all against a backdrop of massive Muslim migration to Europe from ISIS hotbeds such as Syria, which has overwhelmed the system and has already proven a source of at least some of the perpetrators of the deadly attacks in the past six months.

They are paying the price for trying to have it both ways. They are holding these events in a country under State of Emergency, then wonder why nobody wants to go have fun in their police state.

the 3rd seems like it might be an interesting numerical date. but then I would have thought the 1st was more consistent with how you would numerology up a date.

Maybe the 3rd would be good. Double Triple Six.

Didn't Poland get the memo from the EU? The polite thing to do, is invite thousands of jihadist refugees to the Catholic Church's World Youth Day. Poland needs to get on board with the program.

Horrible Flesh-Eating Parasite Spreads With Muslims
From Patricia Doyle
6-2-16

Hello Jeff - You have to see the photos with this article to really understand how tragic Leishmaniasis is. As fleeing Syrians leave, they bring this infection with them to host countries.

Leishmaniasis is spread via sand flies which are found in many tropical and temperate countries. They are now finding that Leishmaniasis has spread to Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and across even to Libya.

The WHO is now worried that the disease might have spread to Europe and beyond. They compared it to the way Ebola spread across West Africa and beyond.

Thanks to Obama we may find that Leishmaniasis has made its way to the US and Canada.

If Obama really wanted to help these people, just end the war and get the troops out of the middle east.

Flesh-eating tropical bug sweeps the Middle East after thriving in ISIS-strongholds

5-30-16

A FLESH-EATING tropical disease is sweeping the Middle East and may yet end up in Europe, after Islamic State’s civil war helped to create the perfect breeding grounds for infected vectors.

Cutaneous leishmaniasis is a parasitic disease caused by bites from infected sand flies, which are thriving in the squalid conditions created by the war in the Middle East.

The disease can eventually lead to severe scarring, and is spreading rapidly as displaced people and refugees flee the ISIS strongholds where the disease is thriving, The Sun reports.

The Kurdish Red Crescent had previously claimed that rotting corpses dumped on the streets by ISIS fighters were contributing to the spread of the disease, although scientists at the School of Tropical Medicine have disproved this claim.

Previously, the disease had been contained to Syria, where it thrived in ISIS-controlled regions such as Raqqa, Deir al-Zour and Hasakah, but now the parasite is eating its way through the entire region.

The US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the disease has recently begun to flourish in Syria’s neighbouring countries. The disease has emerged in Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan, after over four million Syrians fled the country to seek asylum from the bloody conflict in their home country.

Between 2000 and 2012, there were only six reported cases of the disease in Lebanon.

But in 2013 alone there were 1033 cases reported, with the Lebanese Ministry of Health claiming that as many as 96 per cent of all cases occurred among displaced Syrian refugees.

Turkey, Jordan and Yemen have also reported hundreds of cases, with health experts concerned that the disease may soon spread to Saudi Arabia as well.

It is possible that the disease has already been spread to Europe by refugees, who are made more susceptible to illness while living in temporary camps.

These camps tend to be overcrowded, with poor medical facilities and low hygiene standards similar to the conditions in the Middle East, where the disease originated.

Dr Waleed Al-Salem, of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, told MailOnline: “It’s a very bad situation. The disease has spread dramatically in Syria, but also into countries like Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey and even into southern Europe with refugees coming in.

“There are thousands of cases in the region but it is still underestimated because no one can count the exact number of people affected. When people are bitten by sand flies — which are tiny and smaller than a mosquito — it can take anything between two to six months to have the infection.”

He continued: “Someone might have picked it up in Syria but then they may have fled into Lebanon or Turkey, or even into Europe as they seek refuge. Prior to the outbreak of war there was good control of diseases, parasites and sand flies but when the conflict started no one cared, conditions worsened and the health system broke down, which has created an ideal environment for disease outbreaks.”

Peter Hotez, dean of the US National School of Tropical Medicine, added: “We need to ring fence them or risk another situation like Ebola out of the conflict zones in West Africa in 2014.

“We are only getting glimpses of the situation from refugees fleeing the conflict zones and going to camps in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey.”

Doctors at the World Health Organisation categorise the disease as “neglected”, claiming that improved conditions at refugee camps and early treatment attempts would go some way to halting its spread.

“In the context of the Syrian crisis the cutaneous leishmaniasis form caused by L. tropica is the most important in terms of risk of being introduced in neighbouring countries. It also presents more treatment failures (up to 20% of cases may become chronic),” WHO doctors write online.

More Than 33% Muslim 'Refugees' In Vermont Have TB
From Patricia Doyle
6-2-16

Hello Jeff - Here we go again. Over ONE THIRD of refugees test positive for TB in Vermont.

Just think...these are the illegals that we KNOW of and have access to. What about those who sneak into the US and stay off the grid? It is quite possible that we are about to have a real outbreak of TB across the US thanks to OBAMA's open borders.

WE must close the border and if it takes building a wall, then do it.

We taxpayers also end up paying for treatment of TB and other diseases like Chagas, Leishmaniasis, Zika, Polio, Leprosy, Dengue, Chikungunya and all sorts of viruses, bacteria and parasitic diseases.

A country that cannot control its borders cannot prosper or ensure the health of its population. It is not a country...

More Than One Third Of Muslim Refugees
In Vermont Test Positive For Tuberculosis

By Bruce Parker
6-2-16

Data from the Vermont Department of Health show that more than one-third of refugees resettled in Vermont test positive for tuberculosis.

Since 2013, about 900 refugees admitted to the Green Mountain State have been tested for tuberculosis, a potentially fatal infectious disease affecting the lungs. Of that number, 318 refugees, or 35.4 percent, tested positive.

Watchdog.org obtained the health data on Wednesday following reporting by Stateline that the disease may be making a comeback in the United States.

Refugees brought to the United States undergo TB tests as part of comprehensive health screenings. State health departments track the data to monitor cases and protect against public health crises.

According to IGRA (Interferon-Gamma Release Assays) blood test results from 2013 to the present, the highest percentage of incoming refugees to Vermont infected with TB occurred in 2013. That year, 108 refugees out of 248 tested, or 43.6 percent, showed positive for TB.

Test results showed slight improvement in subsequent years, with 34 percent of incoming refugees having TB in 2014 and 32 percent showing positive in 2015. Children under age 5 are excluded from the results, as they undergo tuberculin skin tests, or TSTs.

While active TB is fatal in half of cases that go untreated, Ben Truman, health policy and web program coordinator at the Vermont Department of Health, said only a handful of TB cases each year in Vermont are “active.”

“The Vermont five-year average of active TB cases for 2011 to 2015 is 5.4 cases, with a range of two to eight cases per year,” Truman said.

Using Truman’s active TB averages, Vermont reported 27 active TB disease cases between 2011 and 2015. Truman would not say how many resettled refugees in Vermont have active TB disease, or if refugees are included in the Health Department’s five-year average of active TB cases.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that tuberculosis is common worldwide, with one out of every three people carrying the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In 2014, about 9.6 million people had active TB and 1.5 million people died from the disease. TB disease is rare in the United States, however, with just 9,421 active TB cases reported in 2014.

Unlike active TB disease, latent TB infection is not contagious, and people who have it experience no symptoms. Latent TB infection can advance to active TB disease, however, where symptoms typically include weight loss, fever, and chronic cough and phlegm, often including blood. About 10 percent of untreated latent infections advance to active TB disease, according to the CDC.

Last week Breitbart reported that most of Arizona’s 222 active TB cases among resettled refugees over the past two decades were caused by latent TB infections that advanced to active TB disease. A fact sheet from Arizona’s Department of Health states that the cases were “caused by latent tuberculosis infections that became active after years or even decades of lying dormant.” The department urges people with latent TB infection to “complete an entire course of medication” to prevent possible activation.

Truman said advancement from latent TB to active TB is not typical in Vermont cases.

“Many people who have latent TB infection never develop TB disease. In these people, the TB bacteria remain inactive for a lifetime without causing disease,” he said. “The TB incidence in Vermont is low at 1.11 cases per 100,000 (2015), which is less than the national average of 3.0 cases per 100,000.”

Refugee resettlement is facing fresh scrutiny after President Obama pledged to admit 100,000 refugees to the United States, up from the prior cap of 70,000. As distinguished from immigrants, refugees are people who have fled their countries due to war or persecution.

State Refugee Coordinator Denise Lamoureux said Vermont plans to admit 350 refugees this year. One hundred refugees may be placed in Rutland, where Mayor Chris Louras is facing a backlash from residents for hiding the city’s resettlement plans from the public.

Refugees may be entitled to multiple years of taxpayer-funded medical, cash and social assistance. Assistance benefits range from Medicaid and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families to job preparation and placement. Funding for Vermont’s refugee resettlement program comes from federal grants distributed to the Vermont Agency of Human Services and the the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants.

Lamoureux said the current year funding is in line with the 2013-2014 funding grants, except that cash and medical assistance expenses dropped by about $350,000, due to lower refugee medical assistance costs following the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid expansion. She added that social services allocations are down to $195,737 for fiscal year 2016.

While Truman didn’t say how the Health Department was handling active TB cases among Vermont’s refugees, a single active TB case for a teacher at Charlotte Central School in 2015 led the department to test about 500 students and coworkers. Test results found that 19 children and two adults had become infected with latent TB.
