UCLA campus on lockdown after shooting

Police confirmed two shooting victims after the UCLA campus reported a possible shooter on campus in an engineering building, The UCLA Newsroom (https://twitter.com/UCLAnewsroom) tweeted.

The condition of the victims was not immediately clear.

The campus was placed on lockdown just before 10 a.m. The LAPD was on a citywide tactical alert following shooting.

Two people were "down" at UCLA and police were searching for someone wearing a black jacket and black pants, The Daily Bruin reported.

Authorities were on the scene at Boelter Hall, a campus media relations officer said.

A law enforcement official told Fox News that assets from the FBI's LA field office were responding to the shooting scene along with local partners, including LAPD. The official could not immediately say what specific assets the FBI was sending -- whether tactical or investigative or both. A separate law enforcement official said assets from ATF’s LA division were on scene and additional assets were on the way.

"We just went to official lock down in the dark!" a school employee told FoxNews.com in a text message. "All students moved to the back."

"We are in lock down...but they seemed to be only focusing over on Boelter Hall because I literally just waked through campus to my building and went straight through to my office. Had no idea of what was going on till I got here!"

A tweet from the UCLA Bruin Alert account warned students to remain on lockdown.

“Go to secure location and deny entry (lockdown) now!” a tweet said.

Officials have placed Fairburn Elementary School, Warner Elementary School and Emerson Community Charter Middle School on lockdown as a precaution due to police activity in the area, according to the Los Angeles School Police Department.

The last day of classes at UCLA was scheduled for June 3. Graduation is set to take place on June 10 and June 11.

The March 10 blog post appears to offer insight into the motive behind the murder of William Klug, who was a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at UCLA. In the post, the writer says he was a former student of Klug’s. “We had personal differences,” it says. “[Klug] cleverly stole all my code and gave it another student. He made me really sick.”
