More than a quarter of a million people have signed a petition to recall the California judge who issued a controversially light sentence for a sexual assault.
Brock Turner, a 20-year-old former star swimmer at Stanford University, will serve six months on the sexual assault conviction.

Brock Turner, 20, was sentenced to six months for sexual assault. He could have faced a maximum of 14 years behind bars.
Turner assaulted the 23-year-old female, who was not a student at the university, after she passed out at a frat party.
A recall effort is now underway to oust Judge Aaron Persky, with more than 300,000 people signing the petition (https://www.change.org/p/california-state-house-recall-judge-aaron-persky).
Persky, also a Stanford alum, mentioned that the defendant was intoxicated at the time of the assault.
"A prison sentence would have a severe impact on him. I think he will not be a danger to others," Persky explained.
For a recall election to be scheduled, 81,000 signatures of registered California voters are required, Fox News' William La Jeunesse reported.

Judge Aaron PerskyThe victim said she later learned that witnesses saw Turner assaulting her behind a dumpster and intervened, holding him at the scene until police arrived.
The woman wrote a powerful letter that she read aloud at the trial, describing the "severe impact" on her and lamenting the role of privilege in the case.
"The fact that Brock was an athlete at a private university should not be seen as an entitlement to leniency, but as an opportunity to send a message that sexual assault is against the law regardless of social class," she wrote.
She also called out Turner for failing to take responsibility and continuing to claim that the encounter was consensual.

Meantime, Turner's father wrote in a statement that his son is paying "a steep price ... for 20 minutes of action." He said that his son should not go to jail, having lost his scholarship and giving up his dream of competing in the Olympics.

Harris Faulkner took issue with the father's letter, saying that he's not holding his son accountable and seems to be blaming the victim.
She noted that the last line of his letter argued that Turner should only receive probation as a penalty so that he can make a "positive" impact on society.
"For whom is this positive? Only for him. ... He's not holding his child accountable. It's his duty as a dad," said Faulkner.
Julie Roginsky agreed that the father downplayed the fact that his son found a woman unconscious behind a dumpster and proceeded to violate her sexually.

20 minutes?........Father gives the kid far more credit than I'm sure he deserves.

i agree with the father that he shouldn't have to go to prison.........should be taken to the town square and be publicly castrated like the pig that the father raised.

2 sides to every story and I'm sure we don't know the half of it. The MSM story gets more detailed as it goes along. Must be some dirt on the Judge and using this kid as the boost. First it was consentual then she was passed out then she passed out behind a dumpster then 2 heroic boys saved the day and held him there until the feds show up meanwhile the girl walked away... WTF?
