To me that the shooter was a "sheep deep" that became a "sheep shit" once he was no longer of any use to Uncle Sugar.
A sheep deep is a active Special Forces active member assigned for a particular job, in this case trained by the army as a hit man.
Back in the sixties and seventies there were only five members assigned to the "Black Force", and each with a life span of ten years.
