Lynch, Clinton meeting: Second Look
USA TODAY 12:01 p.m. EDT July 10, 2016

Letter to the editor:

Clearly our country’s leaders no longer understand or just don’t care about such things as conflicts of interest. Nor are they concerned about whether their actions may result in the perception of impropriety. Loretta Lynch’s private meeting with Bill Clinton, while Hillary was under investigation by the FBI (which directly comes under her jurisdiction) would have been completely unacceptable at a time when standards of conduct really mattered. Can you imagine what would have been the response to a similar incident if it had involved Richard Nixon during the Watergate investigation?

I believe that the reason we have the most corrupt government in our nation’s history — where an administration can lie to us about what happened in Benghazi in order to win a presidential election — is that frankly most of the American people do not value, nor expect character and honesty from their leaders. When most of a nation’s citizens are dependent on their government to take care of the needs, that they should and can meet themselves, then the true purpose of government is no longer a criteria in choosing our leaders. Our federal government appears to be no longer accountable or held to any ethical standards of what is decent and good or right, and our citizens appear to be only concerned with their own self interests.

They understand it very well, they have to in order to be able to circumvent it
