A mother and her three daughters have been stabbed by an attacker in France because they were 'scantily dressed'.
The family were assaulted while eating breakfast on holiday in the village of Garda-Colombe near Laragne-Monteglin in the Hautes Alpes near Montpellier in the south of France.
The mother, 46, and her daughters aged eight, 12 and 14 were targeted before the knifeman fled the scene, although he was later arrested by police.

The youngest victim, who was eight years old, is currently in a critical condition in hospital after suffering a punctured lung
French media reported that the attacker was a Muslim called Mohammed B, although it has not been confirmed.
However, police said the man, 37, was of Moroccan origin and was at the hotel with his family at the time of the attack.
He was arrested by two police reservists after trying to escape in a car.
'The two families shared a terraced house with two apartments,' the police prosecutor said.
A small folding knife with a blade measuring from 8 to 10 centimeters was found at the scene.
According to local reports, the motive of the attack is unclear but the man had allegedly made references about the females being 'too lightly dressed'. It is believed the woman and her daughters were wearing shorts and T-shirts at the time of the stabbing.
The youngest victim, who was eight years old, was the most badly wounded and is currently in a critical condition in hospital after suffering a punctured lung.

However, local prosecutor Raphael Balland told La Parisien (http://www.leparisien.fr/faits-divers/hautes-alpes-une-mere-et-ses-trois-filles-attaquees-au-couteau-dans-un-centre-de-vacances-19-07-2016-5979377.php): 'The motive of the attack is very unclear.
'No religious connotation word has been pronounced.'
Laragne-Monteglin is 180 kilometers 110 miles northwest of Nice, where a Tunisian man killed 84 people last week by driving through a crowd on Bastille Day.
