Supervisor cop: "Why did you shoot this man?"
Trigger-happy cop: "I don't know. I was actually intending to shoot the unarmed autistic patient sitting on his butt with a toy truck in his hand."

Black or not, when the guy is literally laying on his back with hands up in the air, there is absolutely no justification for shooting him.

On the bright side, this guy's going to get millions in settlement money for this unjustified shooting, and will never have to work another day in his life.

"I took this job to save lives and help people," according to the officer's text statement. "I did what I had to do in a split second to accomplish that
You have GOT to be kidding me!!!

But he said he was INTENDING to shoot the autistic patient sitting on his ass with a toy truck in his hand (which they were advised of), someone who was NO threat to them.

""Many officers thought the white male had a firearm. Only much later, when we're able to Monday morning quarterback, do we find out that it's a toy. Only much later do we find out that the individual was autistic. The officers on the scene did not know that," he said."
So, what did we learn here? If a person is holding an object, it is proper to assume it's a gun and shoot him unless you are sure it's not a gun. How would that hold up in court if you or I tried it?

We would be charged with attempted murder, negligence, endangerment, discharging a firearm in public, and of course resisting arrest.
Just off the top of my head, those would be the charges any of us who do not wear a costume, have a tin badge and sanctioned by the state to increase revenue would be locked up for.

Recall the CCW permit holder who was shot and killed in Costco because the trigger-happy cops thought the cell phone he had in hand was a weapon?

Rivera, the police union chief, offered an explanation for the shooting Thursday. The police officer opened fire because he thought the other man, whom authorities later learned has autism, was holding a gun and was about to shoot Kinsey.

So I guess they're using the Pelosi defense:
You got to shoot the guy before you know what he was holding in his hand.
Got it Dick Tracy!!
No wonder cops are getting ambushed.....they're as culpable as anyone for not dealing with their own cops like this swiftly and decisively. The more they defend cops like this the more potentially innocent cops will be attacked by those who are affected most by those police bullets killing and maiming innocent people.

They are hopelessly out gunned, and out numbered. It benefits them to go through different training and not approach every interaction with a citizen as if they were in a war zone. They treat everyone like an enemy combatant, don't get all butthurt that the enemy starts shooting back.
