Tim Kaine gave a brief interview (http://wtvr.com/2014/10/24/sen-kaine-wants-gov-mcauliffe-state-lawmakers-to-look-in-the-mirror-and-make-dramatic-change-after-scandals/) this morning where he called on Virginia legislators to work on ethics reform, and in doing so lamented the three ‘high profile challenges’ in recent years Virginia has faced on ethics, Phil Hamilton, Bob McDonnell, and the ongoing Phil Puckett saga. In doing so, he has casually tossed colleague Mark Warner under the bus, who’s involvement in the Puckett saga was stupidity bordering on voting for $4.7 trillion in new spending through the federal government. Warner doesn’t just win, he goes big.

But first, Kaine remarking on any ethics scandal is laughable on its face. Given the new FBI precedent what constitutes bribery and corruption, Tim Kaine is still well within the statute of limitations for his own bribery and corruption trial. Lest we ever forget: (http://bdbackup.wpengine.com/2014/01/27/heres-what-tim-kaine-sold-a-government-appointment-for/)

In 2005, when Tim Kaine was Lt. Governor, he was offered a vacation on the island of Mustique by a member of the Virginia Commission on Higher Education, and Kaine somehow acquired the wisdom after taking the $18,000 gift of this vacation to re-appoint the gift giver to the Board once he became Governor.
..
That same year, Governor Kaine accepted $3,500 in clothing gifts from Stuart C. Siegal, of S&K fame, to go with $2,000 of clothing Siegal gave him two years earlier. As Governor, Tim Kaine, in a moment of enlightenment, appointed him to the Virginia Racing Commission.

McDonnell was indicted for less (gifts with no official government action taken in return) so for Kaine to remark in public on other scandals is 1) stupid 2) hypocritical 3) something his lawyer should tell him to avoid in the future.

The other noteworthy development would be Kaine’s discarding of Mark Warner (that sound you hear would be the bus hitting Warner again and again). Kaine called for a “dramatic change in Virginia officials”, something that sounds very very close to ‘vote the bums out of office.’

With two weeks to go, Ed Gillespie investing nearly half a million of his own money (proudly) in the race and Mark Warner avoiding the press at literally every public outing, Tim Kaine reminds Virginia voters to throw Mark Warner (and himself) out of office.
November 4th, you’ll be able to do just that.

I wonder how much the Foust campaign debacle will impact Warner’s campaign? May drag him down just enough to make a difference.

Reinhardt Reganbacker lll
Good point! I wonder how much the McDonnell trial and conviction will impact Ed Gillespie ? Were will all those felony convictions drag him?
Virginia is now a blue state. Nothing anybody can really do about it. The Republicans wanted the cheap imported labor, now, because of that, the state is painted blue.

Reinhardt Reganbacker lll
To clear the air, and in the interest of political fairness, would you be willing to write an article on the Republican Senate Majority Leader Norment, and the $10-$12,000 Safari that the media has reported he went on? Who payed for that one?

I ‘m sure you would like the opportunity to clear up any discrepancies between that and the Governor Kaine vacation?
Also, maybe you would explain how members of both parties are getting to the Masters In Augusta, Ga., who’s jet plane are they racking up frequent flyer miles on???

DJRippert
I don’t know about DJ Spiker but this DJ agrees that Virginia politicians from both parties are crooks. The only difference between Kaine and McDonnell is that the federal government had the goods on McDonnell’s gift giver for unrelated bad behavior. If Kaine’s benefactor would have needed immunity Timmy would be in jail himself right now.

Via email, Hillary picks Scandal Plagued Tim Kaine: Must read this bombshell July 23, 2016 (http://prntly.com/2016/07/23/via-email-hillary-picks-scandal-plagued-tim-kaine-must-read-this-bombshell/) Connor Balough (http://prntly.com/author/alex/) 0 Comment (http://prntly.com/2016/07/23/via-email-hillary-picks-scandal-plagued-tim-kaine-must-read-this-bombshell/#respond)
Hillary Clinton picked ex-Virginia Senator Tim Kaine for VP.

Now a leading contender to be Hillary Clinton’s running mate, Kaine reported more than $160,000 in gifts from 2001 to 2009, mostly for travel to and from political events and conferences, according to disclosures compiled by the Virginia Public Access Project. The givers included political supporters, a drug company that soon after bought a facility in Virginia, and Dominion, the state’s biggest provider of electricity.

While legal under Virginia’s unusually permissive ethics rules, the gifts could become attack-ad fodder after similar presents led to corruption charges for Gov. Bob McDonnell, whose conviction the Supreme Court overturned Monday. Republicans could also use the records to portray Kaine as part of the self-dealing establishment in a cycle animated by hostility toward the political class.
Kaine’s staff and other defenders are quick to note that his gifts did not contain any suggestion of a quid pro quo trade for official favors — a major difference from the McDonnell case, and the key difference between an act of friendship and an act of corruption. And Kaine’s long career in Virginia politics, capped by a stint as chairman of the Democratic National Committee, contained no allegations of corruption.

“During his eight years as lieutenant governor and governor, Sen. Kaine went beyond the requirements of Virginia law, even publicly disclosing gifts of value beneath the reporting threshold,” a spokesperson said. “He’s confident that he met both the letter and the spirit of Virginia’s ethical standards.”

But Virginia’s standards are widely perceived as too permissive, especially in the wake of the McDonnell case. And even the appearance of lower standards could become an issue in the national spotlight.

“The danger here is that there’s already a narrative on Hillary Clinton: It’s crooked cronyism, and any pick or any other action that drives that narrative is going to be bad for her,” said Matt Moon, a former Republican National Committee deputy research director, communications director for the 2014 reelection campaign of Governor Rick Scott (R-Fla.), and now executive vice president of opposition research consulting firm Delve. “If you’re on the Clinton campaign side, you want to look at potential vulnerabilities in how a VP pick would drive an opposition narrative.”

Kaine has acknowledged the defects with his state’s policies, especially compared with the federal restrictions he now faces as senator. “With no limit on the amount of such gifts and with the exceptions for friends and family so broad, Virginia’s system is all but guaranteed to create problems,” he wrote in a 2013 Washington Post op-ed. “The benefits of the federal rule are obvious. I regret that I didn’t propose adopting it when I was governor.”

Shortly after winning the governorship in 2005, Kaine and his family vacationed on the exclusive West Indies island of Mustique in a house belonging to Charlottesville-area investor James B. Murray Jr. Murray made a fortune investing in cellphones together with Kaine’s Senate predecessor, Mark Warner. Murray invited Kaine to spend a week at his house to relax after the campaign.
“I didn’t consider it a gift: There was no cash, I just let him use a house,” Murray said in an interview with Politico. “There was no quid pro quo. I don’t have any business with him.”

For the purpose of the disclosure, Kaine’s staff determined that $18,000 was the fair market value of a week’s stay. Kaine paid all his own expenses besides lodging.
“It’s just the kind of thing you do for a friend, but who’s to draw the line?” Murray said. “It’s probably better to declare everything.”

Donald Trump’s campaign wasted little time depicting Hillary Clinton’s new running mate as a continuation of the “rigged system,” casting Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine as “Corrupt Tim” and attacking him for supporting President Barack Obama’s policies.

"Tim Kaine is Hillary's VP pick. The ultimate insiders - Obama, Hillary, and Kaine. Don't let Obama have a 3rd Term. Contribute,” Trump said in a text message to supporters. In a tweet late on Friday, Trump attacked Kaine as corrupt:

Why did Tim Kaine have no problem when he took far more money as Governor of Virginia than Bob McDonald. Crooked Hillary & rigged system!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 23, 2016 (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/756693662218747904)

Trump spokesman Jason Miller emailed a statement to reporters that described Kaine as an “ethically challenged insider.”
"It's only fitting that Hillary Clinton would select an ethically challenged insider like Tim Kaine who's personally benefited from the rigged system,” Miller said. “While serving in government, Kaine has taken tens of thousands of dollars in freebies - more than $160,000 in fact - on free vacations, free clothes, and free tickets,” pointing to a POLITICO story that described the Virginia governor as taking advantage of his state’s “lax gift laws.”

“If you think Crooked Hillary and Corrupt Kaine are going to change anything in Washington, it's just the opposite,” Miller continued. “They do well by the current system, while the rest of America gets left behind. The choice has never been clearer - Donald Trump calls on us to Believe in America, while the Status Quo ticket of Clinton-Kaine wants us to believe in a rigged system that enriches them at your expense."

Clinton picks Kaine as her running mate (http://www.politico.com/story/2016/07/clinton-vp-pick-kaine-226015)

By Nolan D. McCaskill

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus released his own statement casting Kaine in similar terms.

“Hillary Clinton’s choice of Tim Kaine does nothing to unify a fractured Democrat base which is repelled by her dishonesty and cronyism,” Priebus said. “After spending last week pandering to grassroots Democrats with Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton has chosen someone who holds positions that she’s spent the entire primary trying to get to the left of.

“Ultimately this is a ticket that represents one thing: four more years like the last eight, just with more corruption and scandal,” Priebus said. “A Clinton-Kaine administration will push our country further down the path President Obama has led us on and that has made us less safe, less prosperous, and less free. More taxes, more debt, more government and more leading from behind on the global stage will not deliver the turnaround our country desperately needs. Americans have had enough of the failed Democrat status quo.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said in a statement that by picking Kaine, the former secretary of state had shown “there is no doubt about Hillary Clinton's plan to serve as a third term of the liberal Obama administration.
"As one of President Obama's most loyal 'yes men' in the Senate, and a proud Clinton Democrat, Kaine fought to protect Obamacare despite higher premiums, massive regulations despite higher costs for consumers, and a foreign policy that even Jimmy Carter says is a failure.“

I hope Hillary treats Kaine like her little bitch...just like she treated her staff.

Hillary Clinton: In Her Own Words

Hillary is under fire for feigning a "Southern" down-home accent when addressing a black congregation recently.

But to know the real Hillary, the words she uses are much more telling than how she says them.

Here is a compilation of published quotes from those who have firsthand knowledge.

"Put this on the ground! I left my sunglasses in the limo. I need those sunglasses. We need to go back!"
(From the book "Dereliction of Duty" p. 71-72 - Hillary to Marine One helicopter pilot to turn back while en route to Air Force One.)

"A right-wing network was after his presidency...including perverting the Constitution."

No doubt this tilt was a major consideration which resulted in Kaine emerging 'out of left field'.

That's been my pet theory from the start. Obama is going to drag us into a war with Russia as an excuse to declare martial law and suspend the elections. All the wind will be taken out of Trump's sails, and they will completely derail his campaign. Looks very much to me like that's the direction we're heading.
I hope we get to take another path.
