UPDATE 12:30PM FRIDAY: The federal agent remains in fair condition.

UPDATE 10:29PM: Officials with Medical Center say the male federal agent is now listed in fair condition.

UPDATE 7:20PM: The Brewster County Sheriff's department is still sifting through leads after a series of threats called in following the shooting.

UPDATE 6:15PM:

Sul Ross State University has been cleared by law enforcement after a search of the campus.

UPDATE 2:40PM:
Homeland Security confirms that the agent injured in the apparent accidental shooting at Alpine High School has been transported to Odessa Medical Center Hospital in stable condition.

According to a Brewster County Sheriff's Office Press Conference, a deputy was near the school when the shooting and was able to enter through the back door of the band hall where he found the shooter and recovered her weapon.

A further search by the Alpine Police Department and BCSO cleared the school, during which a victim was found with a gunshot wound to her lower backside. The shooter's injury was determined to be self-inflicted.

The school does not have a resource officer on campus.

Law enforcement from Midland, Odessa, Pecos, Fort Stockton, and Pecos immediately arrived in Alpine to help clear the school and assist with the investigation.

During that clearing a federal officer fired his weapon, injuring another federal officer.

Brewster County Sheriff Dodson states that a 'nut' has taken advantage of the tragic situation by calling in bomb threats across the area, stretching law enforcement thin.

A note was found that read "If you thought what happened at the school was bad, wait to see what happened at Sul Ross".

The threats are all believed to have come from the same person, who law enforcement believes is a male. The bomb threats are not believed to be connected to the shooting.

The FBI has been called in to assist with an investigation of the threats. Bomb-sniffing dogs are being flown in to assist with the search.

When officers arrived on scene they heard more gunshots before finding the alleged shooter in the bathroom with an apparent self-inflicted wound.

....a U.S. Marshal accidentally fired at a Homeland Security Investigations officer, wounding him.

ALPINE -- The alleged 14-year-old freshman shooter that injured another Alpine High School student had only moved to the area six months before, her family tells law enforcement.

Friends tell CBS 7 News that the victim is expected to make a full recovery and is lucky to be alive. They say a total of four shots were fired at her and only one hit her in her lower back.

"Apparently she was going to the bathroom just to checkup on herself, look in the mirror or whatever, and she saw another girl whom she apparently didn’t recognize, you know with a gun," said Cade. "She was startled of course, and then the girl with the gun looked at her, and of course she was scared and you know opened fire on her."

Cade says it was at that point that his friend turned around and began running, one bullet wizzed passed her face and another hit her in the lower back.

A Brewster County Sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol happened to be just outside the school when the incident occurred, entered the building nearest where the shooting took place, and discovered the deceased suspect and secured her firearm within minutes of the original 911 calls.

Complicating this two-part incident for Brewster County law enforcement was a pair of bomb threats called in after the shooting to a local hospital and Sul Ross State University by a male caller apparently hoping to sow chaos after the shooting incidents at the school, as well a written threat left at a hotel in another part of the county.

UPDATE #2-Bomb Threats Unrelated To Shooting At Alpine High School

Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson said during a news conference Thursday that a male caller reported a bomb threat at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, while another threat was called into an Alpine hospital. A threatening note was found around the same time at a motel about 30 miles away.

Dodson says investigators are looking for the caller and he could face federal charges. Investigators don’t believe the threats are related to the shooting at Alpine High School.

alpine prominent in scalia death/scandal

Poindexter said the 79-year-old justice had no pulse and his body was cold. He said he first called hospital officials in nearby Alpine, Texas, before contacting federal authorities. No federal marshals were at the ranch with Scalia.

It has been revealed that no autopsy was performed on Scalia.

Guevara, who declared Scalia dead at 1:52 pm Texas time, had been planning to go to the guest ranch where he died until she received a call from a U.S. marshal saying she did not need to make the trip, but the marshal wanted to know if she required an autopsy.

Guevara was told by the marshal and the local sheriff there was no sign of foul play. She also spoke by phone with Scalia’s doctor on Saturday night.

they always have school shootings at the start of the school year don't they?

need the id of the three people shot and the bomb threatener. wondering if this ties into the scalia operation - which included alpine hospital, alpine funeral home, woman that claimed heart attack over the phone was in alpine at the time...more

lots of weird stuff with this story...may be nothing.....just gathering info so far

of course the story started with TWO SHOOTERS -- sheriff is the one that put that out

http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/08/us/texas-high-school-shooting/

The Brewster County Sheriff's Office initially said two shooters were believed to be on the loose, but Dodson said later that with the initial shooter dead, no others were being sought.

Authorities also were trying to find a person who telephoned bomb threats to an Alpine hospital and nearby Sul Ross State University, Dodson said. A note making a bomb threat was found on a motel door, he said.

"We had four active crime scenes," the sheriff said.
"None of the prank calls are coordinated or have anything to do with the shooting at the school," Scown said.
