Mexico Threatens to Cancel Treaty That Ceded Texas and California to U.S. If Trump Gets Elected
11 September 2016 GMT

While Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump might have taken a victory lap after his meeting with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, those south of the U.S. border are not.

Finance Minister Luis Videgaray resigned Wednesday, after backlash from the invitation to Trump to meet with Peña Nieto. Now, Mexican Senator Armando Rios Piter is proposing legislation that could put Mexico in conflict with the United States.

“It was a historic error for our president to invite a person like that to our country. [Mr Trump] used us as a campaign tool,” the senator told the Telegraph.’

Mexican senator proposes bill to protect country from Donald Trump

A Mexican senator is proposing legislation that would block any attempt by Donald Trump to force the country to pay for a border wall, amid outrage over President Enrique Peña Nieto's meeting with the Republican candidate last week.

“It was an historic error for our president to invite a person like that to our country. [Mr Trump] used us as a campaign tool,” says Mexican senator Armando Rios Piter.

As the Republican presidential candidate rose in many polls early this week, Senator Rios, from the leftist PRD party is planning to introduce a bill that would prepare Mexico for a fight if Mr Trump wins.

He not going to bill Mexico, he'll simply subtract it from their US aid they receive. I believe he's alluded to that a number of times. This is like installing a screen door on your submarine...nice gesture but quite ineffective

No way Mexico cancels the treaty that ended the Mexican-American war. If they did, couldn't that be considered a declaration of war?

Don't underestimate the stupidity of an arrogant Latrino.

It's not like a war with Mexico would last more than 48 hours. The Mexican Air Force? LOL. The Mexican Navy? LOL. The Mexican Army? LOL. It would be worse than Polish horse cavalry against German mechanized divisions.

Mexico could cause a great deal of trouble behind the lines with their La Raza Fifth Columnists, but real Americans could "deal" with that if necessary.

Oh, and as for paying for the border wall? Yes, Mexico will pay for it, and there isn't a damned thing they can do to prevent it. It would be funded by a tax on wire transfers from the US to Mexico.

Stephen F. Austin called Texians to arms; they declared independence from Mexico in 1836, and after Santa Anna defeated the Texians at the Alamo, he was defeated by the Texian Army commanded by General Sam Houston and captured at the Battle of San Jacinto and signed a treaty recognizing Texas' independence.[27]

Texas consolidated its status as an independent republic and received official recognition from Britain, France, and the United States, which all advised Mexico not to try to reconquer the new nation. Most Texians wanted to join the United States of America, but annexation of Texas was contentious in the US Congress, where Whigs were largely opposed. In 1845 Texas agreed to the offer of annexation by the US Congress. Texas became the 28th state on December 29, 1845

I think we could gain a couple silver mines in Mexico. Sure, start a war.

When a real leader steps into office, the Mexicans will become humble and pleasant.

We should have made Mexico a protectorate long ago. The Mexicans would be much better off - as would we.

It is not often anyone refers to a native of Texas as "Texian", the only other time I have heard it was from a native of Texas

Perhaps you might review the movie THE MOUSE THAT ROARED. It had Peter Sellers in it.
