I plug my smart phone into my PC and there is no "Contacts" file.

Is that something that is too taboo, to have an actual Contacts file that you could store and backup all your contacts in?

lemme guess, "they" dont want you to have that power?

these phones are not smart at all, they are designed by dummies for dummies :)

Depends on the smartphone. Most don't allow you to directly access the contacts. You have to import / export directly from the contacts application. You should see an option to do that within the app some where.

For Android I think it's called people. For some reason they could just use contact.. :-/

this new j7 tries to merge everything, if you browse to its contacts it swoops all the major apps into one.

Yet still, the only way to backup is to some samsung/google cloud somewhere.

Of course that method will not work on your next samsung model cause the older was too old.

I also have Android, I know that my contacts are associated with the Gmail account that I have it setup for. If they aren't there, it might be somewhere different for WhatsApp. Not sure as I don't have that app installed and have never used it.

Sure everything HAS to go to the cloud... anymore.

the old whatsapp/viber used to add to phone contacts then u could use manuf. S3 software to replace.

ofcourse that software is no longer available or maintained for J7 users, they are less smarter than 5 years ago.

Horn, there's an app for the android that allows you to save contacts into a pdf file.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.contactstopdf.free_v1&hl=en

have you installed phone manufacturers software on pc? does it do contacts?

sometimes android phone needs user to ok something before full connection happens. swipe down from top of screen to see notifications.

seems your options are google or some 3rd party app/program that can manage contacts if phone maker doesn't issue software.

Save it to a file on your phone, then Bluetooth it to your PC. Mine is a .vcf file.

You can also save it to a microSD card, if your phone has one, and transfer it the manual way.
