Tonight’s debate: watch the staging
by Jon Rappoport Sep 26

Every television newscast: staged reality

by Jon Rappoport

September 26, 2016

Watch how tonight’s Trump-Hillary debate is set up.

Are the two podiums the same size? No? Who has the bigger podium?

Is the lighting even, or are there shadows? Where do the shadows fall?

Is there blue color in the background, which exudes a “calming effect?”

How is the moderator, Lester Holt, lit? Is he spotlighted, haloed, to impart the sense that he’s the ultimate authority in the room?

What about camera angles on the two candidates? Are they receiving the same coverage, or is one more prominent? Are there close-ups?

Will cameras impart a sense of distance, in order to reduce dramatic effect and give the impression that the whole event is somewhat monotonous?

Will the audience be allowed to applaud and boo, or will Lester Holt control that?

To what degree will the candidates be allowed to wander off-topic? Will the reins be tight or loose?

How much time will each candidate be given to make statements? Will either or both of them be pinched, so they can’t say anything of substance?

Here's the lowdown on Trump's invited guests:

Mark "Oz" Geist is a survivor of the Benghazi attack, and was a member of the Annex Security Team.

Bruce LeVell is the executive director of the National Diversity Coalition for Trump.

Karen Vaughn is a Gold Star mother whose son--SEAL son Aaron Carson Vaugh--was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2011.

Generals Mike Flynn and Keith Kellogg are two of Trump's key foreign policy advisors.

I watched the debate as well and was hoping Trump would chime in when her majesty said "The private email server was a mistake, and I take full responsibility for that." I was so hoping for Trump to say, if you were to take full responsibility for that fiasco you should be in prison then for handling classified emails on a private server.

Very weak showing from Trump.

And he can take his agreement with the "no-fly / no-buy" bullshit and shove it.I agree with Trump being disappointing. His rebuttals were repetitive and often pedestrian. He does not have the command of facts and details that could have been used in rebuttals to destroy Hillary as she has so many weak spots to hit: Benghazi, the missing Emails, the unsecured servers, ISIS and the Arab Spring disaster, Clinton Foundation bribery and influence peddling...... on and on.

A man of the erudition and intellect of a Nixon or Kennedy would have destroyed Hillary tonite. Trump is well meaning and I think at his core honest; but he is no politician and no debater. Hillary played well to the minorities and liberal women tonite. Trump was a bit combative and aggressive and it did not enhance his image.

Personally, I don't care which gets elected because I think that the USA is so structurally damaged and financially over-the-debt-barrel that whomever gets elected will be tied down by one crisis after another, in reactive mode. Necessities and realities will determine policy, not political ideology.

Sure, I dont think Trump did nearly as bad as many of you Trump flakes think he did, though one thing certainly is provable by the debate.

Trump has no concept or even apparent awareness for Clinton's Communism, or He is the furthest Left Republican there has ever been.

If that's the case neither of them will make a shred of difference to the U.S. it will turn into another pawn state just like the rest of the planet.

I Score the First Debate

Posted September 27th, 2016 @ 8:27am

Trump and Clinton debated each other for the first time last night. Here’s how I score the night.

Clinton won on points. She had more command of the details and the cleaner answers. Trump did a lot of interrupting and he was defensive. If this were a college debate competition, Clinton would be declared the winner. I call that victory on the 2D chess board. But voters don’t care about facts and debating style. They care about how they feel. So let’s talk about that.

For starters, Trump and Clinton both seemed “presidential” enough. That mattered more for Trump. We haven’t seen him off the teleprompter lately. So Trump passed that test by being sufficiently serious.

Clinton looked (to my eyes) as if she was drugged, tired, sick, or generally unhealthy, even though she was mentally alert and spoke well. But her eyes were telling a different story. She had the look of someone whose doctors had engineered 90 minutes of alertness for her just for the event. If she continues with a light campaign schedule, you should assume my observation is valid, and she wasn’t at 100%.

Some will say Clinton outperformed expectations because she didn’t cough, collapse, or die right on stage. That would be true if she also looked healthy in general, and her campaign schedule from here on out is full. We’ll know more this week, based on her schedule.

Clinton’s smile seemed forced, artificial, and frankly creepy. I’m already hearing on Twitter that mentioning a woman’s smile is sexist. I understand the point. But when someone goes full Joker-face and tests the uncanny valley hypothesis at the same time, that’s a bit different from telling a woman to “smile more.” My neighbor Kristina hypothesized that Botox was making her smile look unnatural. Science tells us that when a person’s mouth smiles, but their eyes don’t match the smile, they look disingenuous if not creepy. Botox on your crow’s feet lines around your eyes can give that effect. But whatever the reason, something looked off to me.

To be fair, Trump’s physical appearance won’t win him any votes either. But his makeup looked better than I have seen it (no orange), his haircut was as good as it gets for him, and he was otherwise his normal self that some voters hate and some like.

But the most interesting question has to do with what problem both of them were trying to solve with the debate. Clinton tried to look healthy, and as I mentioned, I don’t think she completely succeeded. But Trump needed to solve exactly one problem: Look less scary. Trump needed to counter Clinton’s successful branding of him as having a bad temperament to the point of being dangerous to the country. Trump accomplished exactly that…by…losing the debate.

Trump was defensive, and debated poorly at points, but he did not look crazy. And pundits noticed that he intentionally avoided using his strongest attacks regarding Bill Clinton’s scandals. In other words, he showed control. He stayed in the presidential zone under pressure. And in so doing, he solved for his only remaining problem. He looked safer.

By tomorrow, no one will remember what either of them said during the debate. But we will remember how they made us feel.

Clinton won the debate last night. And while she was doing it, Trump won the election. He had one thing to accomplish – being less scary – and he did it.

You might love my book because the debate.

Scott Adams obviously has no idea of what "presidential" looks like.

Both were obviously only pawns to the system even if being semi-Critical. No intelligent thought or debate was going on, on that stage.

Well maybe that IS Presidential anymore...

The thing I think most of us are missing is that we weren't his target audience.

We are highly informed males (mostly). His target was women, and not necessarily informed ones. The warm handshakes with Hillary at the beginning and ending were a big deal. He got her to smile. He played the victim, saying she was being mean to him and he just couldn't say things that he could have said. He spent a lot of time defending himself over stupid things and didn't get too upset, but made you feel bad like they were roasting him. I think for his target audience these things were great, he showed he was a nice guy being mistreated, even though for us it was like grinding our teeth.

Excellent observation right there, Vacuum. The photo I posted earlier is a pretty good representation of her target audience... Flocks of very silly women taking selfie pics with Hillary, in case nobody got what was going on there.
I only mention it because I didn't get it at first either. I thought maybe Justin Beiber had just entered the other end of the room and all those women were taking pics of him or something. But no...selfie pics.

Gentlemen, look to your wives, girlfriends and their women friends. They will let you know who the next POTUS is going to be. They wear pantsuits to work, watch The View on TV, and they are legion.

The more I think about it, Trump executed an intentional strategy quite well. He certainly didn't come across as "Hitleresque" or "Angry" or "Dangerous" ... Rather, he seemed somewhat meek, wounded and defensive of mean old Hillary's attacks.

And as for Hillary's resplendent, self satisfied gloat of a smile at the end of the debate? She has the gloat of a tyrant. Pure gold. Smug Pepe would be proud.

Trump is far more cunning than he lets on. There's no way he'd walk out there without being fully prepared.

Not to say I trust Trump. I don't. But he's not to be underestimated. He's quite capable of losing a battle in order to win a war.

The feedback I'm getting from a few people, is it wasn't as bad as it looked. For me, when and the way she attacked him, I wanted to see Trump pound her ugly head into the ground...so maybe it's just me. But as someone told me, Hillary blew her wad at this debate, she will not have the same attacks for the second. Whereas Trump can come loaded for bear on the next one and bludgeon her good then.

trump ran out to a big lead first half - getting some good digs in. killary closed some of the gap second half as her and the moderator/control room got better.

trump has a lot of dry powder for next round

listening to killary's first answer to the first question made me believe she had the questions before the debate. imo her answer was MUCH too scripted

What I noticed is that something like 85% of the questions were directed to Hillary firstly, the Trump replied.

the entire debate appeared to have some preplanned air to it, that way.

agreements how deep to cut setup prior to.

Taking into account your brilliant observation here, Trump didn't actually do so badly...I was analyzing the debate from a masculine "combat" / reason perspective, but, yes, Her Majesty invaded Trump's "safe space" and made him appear as a victim in the minds of those who use emotion to analyze such things.

^ 48 min Fetzer solo on the debate. Haven't finished listening but early on he mentioned the possibility that she sported teleprompter contact lenses. I'd guess yes plus earpiece plus having the questions in advance, for which she could have answers queued for robotic regurgitation.

Also don't miss last night's Fetzer & Preston James on rense for 2 hours with great callers in the 2nd hour. Was recorded beginning 8pm pacific, just 1/2 hours after the debate.

I have a hunch, a notion, that perhaps 10% of voters will vote against Hillary....just to see her go coo coo puffs insane. LOL
