Big brother sees you. Further it twists people's behavior towards consumption as the concept of money becomes more and more of an abstraction, of course having a wad of paper bills is an abstraction too. But that cash fiat eroded the perception of money too as it replaced gold silver and copper.

Now people work their ass off for satan, receives some digits in their Internet bank, that they see little value in so they "invest" these digits in little electronic gadgets that are outdated in a year or two.
