This is nothing new. I was brought up catholic and that was always the story....nothing to see here (Unless I missed something)

where did he say that? like to read it.

Jesus made himself God because he is God.
Only God can forgive sins and Jesus Christ forgave sins

Mark 2:5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
Mark 2:7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

John 8:23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

Clearly Jesus was God based on what he said
