Pres-elect Trump's Name Scrubbed from NYC Buildings

Workers in New York City began work to remove the "Trump" name from three buildings after a petition and complaints from residents.
The Upper West Side buildings bore the words "Trump Place" in gold lettering, but the signage came down this morning.

The New York Post reported (http://nypost.com/2016/11/15/three-nyc-buildings-to-scrub-trump-name/) Monday that the company that owns the buildings, Equity Residential, had a contract to brand the properties with the Trump name, but the contract has now expired.

"We took a number of issues under advisement, including input from residents," Equity Residential spokesman Marty McKenna said.
The Change.org (https://www.change.org/p/dump-the-trump-name) petition was signed by 671 people.

"It’s embarrassing to live in the building. I’ve had lots of friends make comments about it. My kids are so disgusted with Donald Trump that they find it viscerally uncomfortable to live in a building that has his name on it," said (http://nypost.com/2016/10/23/residents-want-to-dump-%E2%80%8B%E2%80%8Btrumps-name-from-high-rise/) one unnamed resident last month.

Because the building owners wanted to be associated with the Trump brand and were happy to pay a nice price to have the privilage to lease his name.

And because of that association they were able to charge snowflakes an additional premium.

Bookings at Trump’s DC and NYC hotels were down while Trump was campaigning against Hillary; however, now that he’s going to be the nation’s 45th president, people are flocking to his hotels.

The New York Post reports:

Bookings at Trump hotels in Washington, DC, and New York — which plunged during Donald Trump’s presidential campaign — have spiked since his victory.

The Trump International Hotel Washington, DC, just blocks from the White House, has seen a 20 percent increase in reservations and is sold out for Inauguration Day weekend in January.

“Wow. Demand is definitely up,” said Jack Ezon, president of Manhattan-based travel agency Ovation Vacations. “I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly.”

Bookings at the Trump International Hotel & Tower New York are up 18 percent since Election Day, and there has been a 15 percent rise at the Trump Soho New York, Ezon told The Post.
