Bernie Sanders criticized President-elect Donald Trump's recent deal (http://insider.foxnews.com/2016/11/30/trump-carrier-reach-deal-keep-1000-indiana-jobs-moving-mexico) with the air-conditioning corporation Carrier to keep at least 1,000 manufacturing jobs in Indiana.

Carrier, whose parent company is United Technologies, will receive $7 million in tax breaks over the next 10 years, Fox News has confirmed.

"We need a president who can stand up to big corporations, not fold to their demands," Sanders wrote.
He continued:
"Instead of a damn tax, the company will be rewarded with a damn tax cut. Wow! How's that for standing up to corporate greed? How's that for punishing corporations that shut down in the United States and move abroad? In essence, United Technologies took Trump hostage and won. And that should send a shock wave of fear through all workers across the country."

"That is not how the economy works. That is economic illiteracy from Bernie Sanders, which is not exactly surprising."

Tarlov said Sanders' strongest point from the op-ed was pointing out that this deal could signal to companies that if they threaten to move, they could then demand similar tax breaks.
