In a private meeting in New York, Mayor Rahm Emanuel delivered a letter to President-elect Donald Trump, urging him to continue a federal program that allows some undocumented immigrants to avoid deportation.

The letter, signed by Emanuel and 16 other big city mayors, asked the Trump administration to continue the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) system enacted by President Barack Obama, until Congress passes a comprehensive plan to overhaul the immigration system. The federal program allows immigrants brought to the country illegally as children to avoid deportation and get work permits.

After the meeting, the mayor said he made it clear the Trump administration should embrace young immigrants who voluntarily gave the federal government their personal information so they could stay and work in the United States.

“All of us fundamentally believe that those are students. Those are also people that want to join the Armed Forces. They gave their name, their address, their phone number where they are. They’re trying to achieve the American dream. No fault of their own, their parents came here. They are something we should hold up and embrace,” he said. “We are clear, as mayors, that these are DREAMers who are seeking the American dream, and we should embrace them rather than do a bait and switch.”

Jews don't back down. On paper they are deadly, on the ground they are done.

I hope Trump took that card and said you know Rahm, you make a good point.

First day in office, deportation task force is formed and all DACA people are the first to be deported.

President-elect Donald Trump has made many promises on immigration, including a new one Wednesday to "work something out" for the so-called Dreamers -- young immigrants brought to the country illegally as children.

"We’re going to work something out that’s going to make people happy and proud,” Trump said in a Time magazine interview.

"They got brought here at a very young age, they’ve worked here, they’ve gone to school here. Some were good students. Some have wonderful jobs. And they’re in never-never land because they don’t know what’s going to happen.”

Trump had routinely pledged to get rid of President Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, the executive action that temporarily shields young people from deportation if they are students, in the military or working, and are otherwise law-abiding.

Trump still pledges to do that. But now he's also suggesting he would like to find some way to continue accommodating these young people in the United States.

The man is a master at deal making.

Here is one i just thought of off the top of my head.

Make me a list of all the kids you describe as dreamers
Make me another list of all the scum illegals that have criminal records

The sooner you get me that second list...the faster i can work out a deal on that first list.

If they knuckledrag on the scum list ....it is them who is going to face the backlash at home.

Trump promised to get rid of the illegals. Period. Not "make deals" with criminals...and yes, anyone here illegally is a criminal.

You are starting to sound like those liberal on CNN who are balking like rabid dogs

If trump did it EXACTLY like he was talking on the campaign trail ..he would have to put together sweep squads to do massive round ups.

What do think that is going to do?

That will give the left the soapbox the need to stand on to scream i told you so, i told you so!

Look at the way how trump is moving

He gives them nothing so all they can do is scream and holler and look like idiots .

He will get the scum out , but he will do it by unconventional means

And that is all anybody should care about.

You continue to sound like a cartoon character who will defend your personality of veneration against any fact put forth.

If trump did it EXACTLY like he was talking on the campaign trail ..he would have to put together sweep squads to do massive round ups.

And?

He could get rid of most of them by simply cutting off their income sources. Cancel DACA green cards, for one.

What do think that is going to do?

Lie to you, like I said he would before the election.

That will give the left the soapbox the need to stand on to scream i told you so, i told you so!

The Jewsmedia already claims Trump is Hitler, so what else can they spew about that would be any worse?

I guess all the DACA invaders are "good people," like the Clintons.

DACA could possibly go if it is shown to be a massive abuse scheme(which it might)

Green Cards is a legal frame work for those who want to play by the rules of the host country cancel that and you just exploded your problem by a factor of 10,000

Lie to me? Please point me to ONE official elected to high office that you admire past or present and i will show you a shitload of lies they have told.

They are just getting warmed up.....the will up the ante on Trump the likes of which none of us can imagine.....you are underestimating them

Let the man do it his way.....you can guage his success by how much the left screams in agnoy.

Wont be perfect...but much better then what the beast would have done.

Customs and Border chief: Migrant surge not letting up
NATIONAL DECEMBER 7, 2016 2:01 PM

The surge of Central American families seeking asylum at U.S. borders is not letting up, Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Gil Kerlikowske said Wednesday after touring a temporary holding facility in the Rio Grande Valley set up to manage the influx.

The number of apprehensions along the southwestern border can be close to 2,000 a day — with most people turning themselves in, Kerlikowske said in a phone interview. The November influx was as high as what was seen in October: 46,195, he said.

The precise monthly number is to be announced next week.

The facility at the Donna-Rio Bravo International Bridge is due to open Friday and process up to 500 people a day. The 40,000-square-foot white canopy tent is in a field near the river, surrounded by a barbed wire-topped fence.

Kerlikowske toured a similar facility Tuesday that is already up-and-running in Tornillo, near El Paso. Officials say the facilities will be running as long as they're needed.

The goal is to get people processed more quickly, 24 hours for unaccompanied minors and 72 hours for families. The tent will have showers, laundry and a first aid station, and Kerlikowske said the migrants would get outdoor exercise daily.

Kerlikowske said he could not comment on what effect, if any, the weekend release of 470 migrant children and parents from two Texas detention centers would have on Border Patrol processing. Those centers are run by a separate division of the Department of Homeland Security.

The release followed a ruling Friday by a state judge that the state could not license the privately run detention centers as child-care facilities.

A steady influx of Central Americans fleeing violence and poverty in their homelands began in 2014.

At least start cutting benefits. If Trump took away all fed funding to sanctuary cities, cut welfare and got all the people off fraudulent disability claims, he'd have the money to build the wall and then some.

I think Trump can get jobs going faster then workers can be found. I thought this would be a problem from day one. There's no longer enough people willing, or able to do the hard dirty work it will take to rebuild our country. Mexican's will be one of the biggest beneficiaries of Trump's plans to MAGA.

He had better do what he said he would and stop illegal immigration, but that big door in the wall is going to get a lot of use bringing in workers.

I just heard On MSNBC US steel (based in pittsburg)

Has plans to bring back 10,000 jobs based on Trump promise to lower taxes and cut regulations

The reason why this stuck out is because he didnt cut a direct deal , they are basing this move on capagian promises
If you see this man make good expect a stampede of employers to get on the Trump Train.

And a working man is going to vote for the man that got him a job....expect a slaugther at the mid terms
