Fascinating stuff. Has it ever happened that the candidate with 2nd most electoral votes got elected president by the House of Representatives?

On November 11, three days after election day, Tilden appeared to have won 184 electoral votes: one short of a majority.[101] Hayes appeared to have 166 votes, with the 19 votes of Florida, Louisiana, and South Carolina still in doubt.[101] Republicans and Democrats each claimed victory in the three latter states, but the results in those states were rendered uncertain because of fraud by both parties.[102] To further complicate matters, one of the three electors from Oregon (a state Hayes had won) was disqualified, reducing Hayes's total to 165, and raising the disputed votes to 20. [103][d] If either candidate could be awarded the 20 disputed votes, he would be elected president.

There was considerable debate about which person or house of Congress was authorized to decide between the competing slates of electors, with the Republican Senate and the Democratic House each claiming priority.[105] By January 1877, with the question still unresolved, Congress and President Grant agreed to submit the matter to a bipartisan Electoral Commission, which would be authorized to determine the fate of the disputed electoral votes.[106] The Commission was to be made up of five representatives, five senators, and five Supreme Court justices.[107] To ensure partisan balance, there would be seven Democrats and seven Republicans, with Justice David Davis, an independent respected by both parties, as the fifteenth member.[107] The balance was upset when Democrats in the Illinois legislature elected Davis to the Senate, hoping to sway his vote.[108] Davis disappointed Democrats by refusing to serve on the Commission because of his election to the Senate.[108] As all of the remaining Justices were Republicans, Justice Joseph P. Bradley, believed to be the most independent-minded of them, was selected to take Davis's place on the Commission.[109] The Commission met in February and the eight Republicans voted to award all 20 electoral votes to Hayes.[110] Democrats were outraged by the result and attempted a filibuster to prevent Congress from accepting the Commission's findings.[111]
As the March 4 inauguration day neared, Republican and Democratic Congressional leaders met at Wormley's Hotel in Washington to negotiate a compromise. Republicans promised concessions in exchange for Democratic acquiescence in the Committee's decision. The primary concession Hayes promised would be the withdrawal of federal troops from the South and an acceptance of the election of Democratic governments in the remaining "unredeemed" states of the South.[112] The Democrats agreed, and on March 2, the filibuster was ended. Hayes was elected, but Reconstruction was finished.[113] On April 3, Hayes ordered the Secretary of War George W. McCrary to withdrawal federal troops stationed at the South Carolina State House to their barracks. Finally on April 20, Hayes ordered the Secretary of War to send the federal troops stationed at the St. Louis Hotel in New Orleans to Jackson Barracks.[114][115]

As the 1824 election drew near, people began looking for candidates. New England voters admired Adams' patriotism and political skills, and it was mainly due to their support that he entered the race. The old caucus system of the Democratic-Republican Party had collapsed; indeed the entire First Party System had collapsed and the election was a fight based on regional support. Adams had a strong base in New England. His opponents included John C. Calhoun, William H. Crawford, Henry Clay, and the hero of New Orleans, Andrew Jackson. During the campaign Calhoun dropped out, and Crawford fell ill giving further support to the other candidates. When Election Day arrived, Andrew Jackson won, albeit narrowly, pluralities of the popular and electoral votes, but not the necessary majority of electoral votes.[49] With just over one-fourth voter turnout for the election, combined with Adams receiving less than one-third of the popular vote, Adams scored only 113,142 votes.

Under the terms of the Twelfth Amendment, the presidential election fell to the House of Representatives, which was to choose from the top three candidates: Jackson, Adams, and Crawford. Clay had come in fourth place and thus was not on the ballot, but he retained considerable power and influence as Speaker of the House.
Clay's personal dislike for Jackson and the similarity of his American System to Adams' position on tariffs and internal improvements caused him to throw his support to Adams, who was elected by the House on February 9, 1825, on the first ballot. Adams' victory shocked Jackson, who had won the most electoral and popular votes and fully expected to be elected president. When Adams appointed Clay as Secretary of State—the position that Adams and his three predecessors had held before becoming president—Jacksonian Democrats were outraged, and claimed that Adams and Clay had struck a "corrupt bargain". This contention overshadowed Adams' term and greatly contributed to Adams' loss to Jackson four years later, in the 1828 election.[49]

I wouldn't discount the possibility that he is playing along their Neocon Zionist games to not get voted down by the electorate, cabinet positions can always be changed, policy statements backtracked, but you have to be president first. A bit more than a month left.
Btw I have no doubt he is a Zionist, his support for the Jew state is one of the only things he has never changed position on, but he realizes that to be the bestest friend you have to be strong yourself. A NAtional ZIonist, a real NAZI!

Everyone has learned - yet again - that "the People" do not choose the course of America. The actual rulers behind the scenes - behind the figurehead "President" - make the decisions. Both of them promised, but all of it was empty promises. Because the flight plan remains the same.
The only thing that is good about Trump "winning" - the only thing - is that he is not Hillary Clinton.

Isn't a TV commercial an extremely expensive way to reach out to 538 people whom you know all their names and locations? This is to link their treason to patriotism in the average boobs mind. Soros could pay each of these 40 "patriots" rebublicans $10 million each and it wouldn't make that much of a dent in his pocket...

Hey, if these Hollywood dolts say vote to take Trump out who are we, the American people, to argue with them? Like I've always said, if voting mattered it would already be banned. Votes don't count when a handful of people decide the election in the end. This WILL be the start of the fall of America....thanks Obama and all the little people who follow the politicians of both corrupt parties. You folks will always be known as the people who started Civil War 2.0 in America.

we asked for two tiny crumbs that made him different than neocons - immigration and tariff. he's already gutted his pre election stance on both
all of his other stances are straight out of neocon playbook -- obombacare, regs, taxes on megcorps, israeli worship, israeli wars, federal reserve bank, treasury dept to goldman, etc, etc..
there's nothing left to support the guy if he backs off on the two that got him here

....and your respected opinion is noted sir. I agree, we shall see but for me, at this point, I have no choice but to wait and see rather than get myself stressed about it. I see something totally unexpected and unprecedented coming our way and it's not about what Trump will do when he's sworn in. I am taking anything The Donald says with a grain of salt currently. There is still too much time for the swamp to pivot in front of him before he actually takes office. It would be unwise to layout his actual plan at this time.
This is why the poo slinging is full steam. They don't know what to do.
Looks like cabinet posts are rewards to those that stuck by him and to also bring his political enemies closer.
I want to see the first thirty days before making any final conclusions.
