The SR-25 was design by Eugene Stoner in 1990 and built by Knight Armament. The US NAVY SEAL was the first Military unit to use this weapon in 1993 during the war in Somalia. Winner of the US Army award as one of the “Best 10 Inventions”, the Mk.11 Mod.0 Semi-Automatic Sniper System is a precision 7.62mm NATO caliber, gas-operated rifle that is highly acclaimed for its battlefield performance.

The rifle’s inherent accuracy, quick-change 20-round magazine, ambidextrous controls, abundant MIL-STD-1913 rail mounting capabilities, and highly effective sound suppressor system all contribute to the system’s combat success.

The heart of the Mk.11 Mod.0 system is a 20” Chrome Plated 5R Cut barrel 1:10 twist. To meet Army requirements for service in contemporary operations.

Why was only 50 of it made, if it was very successful?

I think this is #20 of 50 that are available for purchase.

Reading around, it seems to have been a good urban sniper rifle but a heavy, hard to disguise unit. Perhaps not so tight beyond 200 yards. Easy to reset on the battle field and reliable, tough etc. There seems to be more info about newer builds of the platform than the older ones.

are you able to inspect this rifle?

I'd want to make sure it was an all original battle variant. Seems to have been a limited run platform while the SEALS worked out what they really wanted/needed. They went a different path soon after.

This guys original photos are gone but interesting discussion on variants and maybe some useful contact info of the company that made them.

This forum might be a bit old. Still working my way backwards through the posts on this manufacturer. Just for interests sake.

They are asking $10400.00 US.

Seems like a real highball to me.

No, that would be sweet.

For 10 G's and no suppressor, I would walk.

A new Armalight 308 would run you 2 G's.

yeah I think I saw one listed for about $12K from a couple years back.

I was wondering if it was really ex-mil or a comp version. Seems to be repackaged looking at the pictured case which is why I asked about seeing it in person. Making sure it is what they say it is.

Yeah a real one would come with the suppressor, like osoab said.

I found it interesting because you don't see these around at all so when one shows up it's worth checking out.

I'll pass.

All sorts of current production AR-10s readily available for anywhere from ~$1,200 and up, and the SR-25 is essentially an AR-10, a direct impingement AR platform.

The item in the OP is strictly a collector piece.
