Is this something that a soldier would actually use in combat? Obviously they'd use use regular automatic weapons, but would this be pretty close?

BATFag approved, this is something available to us lowly civilians. I'm not the least bit concerned about what soldiers get to use, the beast makes sure they're well equipped for death and destruction.

$400 for a 5 pound trigger. Get that down to 3 1/2 pounds and $200 and I might buy one, just to see how much ammo I could waste and then probably leave it in my safe until I sell it. I wouldn't use it with my lightweight non chrome lined barrel though, I'd have to get an upper better suited for that rate of fire and heat.

If a precision setup is what you want then get something like the Larue MBT or Geissele triggers, this set-up is for a bullet hose in which case one need not have anything lighter than 4.5#. And it isn't about wasting ammo, it's about suppressive fire in extremis. Those guys 'wasting' ammo in the videos are doing it for demo purposes as well as shits and giggles. If I anticipated 'wasting' ammo I would simply get a Dillion 1050 and motorize it.

it reminds me of a bump action type trigger/shooting style. But you don't need to modify the hammer to shorten reset to get the speed.

A 5 pound trigger or more will pull you way off target every time, especially when you work it like the guy in the video did. That's just spray and pray and making a lot of noise. A real full auto, whether it has a 7 pound trigger or 4, once you pull it back and hold it back you can then at least find your target.

Unless you're shooting a belt fed by time you "find your target" you've used up most, if not all, of your magazine. Short bursts are the best utilization of shoulder fired full auto.
fwiw many select fire military rifles are issued with trigger pulls of six pounds or more and a 'light' trigger on the AR platform is one under 4.5#. Additionally there are many marksman who manage to get sub-MOA with trigger pulls of 4.5# or more.

They run anywhere from 3 to 4 pounds and are much easier to shoot than those sorry factory triggers. Yes, I do own a trigger scale. Anyone who can get sub MOA groups with a 4 1/2 pound trigger is extremely talented. Come to think of it, the binary system probably allows you some accuracy when you release the trigger.

apply for your criminal clause protection waiver and it should be just fine in the aforementioned states
