ICE South Texas officers again deport Salvadoran man wanted for extortion
SAN ANTONIO — A previously deported Salvadoran fugitive accused of extortion in his home country was deported a second time Thursday by officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO).
Jose Mamerto Diaz-Valencia, 26, is wanted for extortion in El Salvador following an arrest warrant from Feb. 11, 2016. According to the police report, Diaz-Valencia was extorting items from a residential estate that belonged to a man who is on a witness-protection program. Diaz-Valencia was flown to El Salvador Dec.22 and turned over to authorities.
“Identifying and removing foreign fugitives from the United States is one of ICE’s highest enforcement priorities," said Daniel Bible, field office director of ERO San Antonio. "This removal ensures that this individual will face justice for the allegations against him."
