With winter here, it's time to check your vehicle survival kit.
What's the bare minimum you should carry in the event you get stranded?
If you're traveling into wilderness areas, you should have more items.
Add to the list if you like.
Must have items:
Extra clothing
gloves
snow boots
Knife
gun
road flares
lighter/matches
phone charger
Optional items:
shovel
food
first aid kit
flare gun
rain poncho

Keep the gas tank topped off at all times, for several reasons. One for heat if stuck, use the shovel to keep the exhaust pipe clear. One other thing most do not think of is with temp swings and humidity, water can condense in the gas tank over time and because of murphys law, the fuel filter will clog up at the very worst time when you really need to run the engine.
As far as food goes, the higher the fat content the better, times like like this weight watchers we are not, staying warm is the name of the game !
Nother thing to maybe have is a small camping style catalytic heater with oxy /carbon moxy sensor to keep from running the engine all the time.
