View Full Version : Trump orders media blackout at government agencies:
Horn
24th January 2017, 11:54 PM
Earlier today, we reported that the Trump administration instituted a media blackout at the Environmental Protection Agency and barred staff from awarding any new contracts or grants.
Emails sent to EPA staff since President Donald Trump’s inauguration on Friday and reviewed by The Associated Press, detailed the specific prohibitions banning press releases, blog updates or posts to the agency’s social media accounts. On Monday, the Huffington Post reported (http://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/315796-epa-freezes-grant-programs-reports)that EPA grants had been frozen, with agency employees barred from speaking of the matter. The memo ordering the social media blackout is shown below.
The Trump administration reportedly told the Department of the Interior to stop tweeting from its accounts over the weekend after the National Park Service’s Twitter account retweeted a post about the crowd sizes at Trump’s inauguration Friday. The agency brought back (http://thehill.com/policy/technology/315493-interior-dept-reactivates-twitter-after-shutdown)its accounts on Saturday.
Asked if the EPA had been gagged, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said on Tuesday: “I don’t know … we’re looking into it … I don’t think it’s a surprise we’re going to review the policies but I don’t have any info at this time.”
According to Reuters sources, the move “reinforced concerns that Trump, a climate change doubter, could seek to sideline scientific research showing that carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels contributes to global warming, as well as the career staffers at the agencies that conduct much of this research.”
Now, as Reuters adds, (http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-epa-idUSKBN15822X)other agencies were also impacted, and the Trump’s administration has put staff at a slew of government agencies on notice – “be careful what you say.”
In addition to the EPA, the Interior Department and the U.S. Department of Agriculture also has seen efforts to curb communication. On Monday, staff at the department’s Agricultural Research Service (ARS) were asked in an email to suspend the release of “any public-facing documents.”
“This includes, but is not limited to, news releases, photos, fact sheets, news feeds, and social media content,” the email said.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture disavowed the email on Tuesday, saying in a statement that it was released without “departmental direction and prior to departmental guidance being issued.”
“ARS will be providing updated direction to its staff,” according to the statement.
The ARS focuses on scientific research into the main issues facing agriculture, including long-term climate change.
Last week, staff at the Interior Department were told to stop posting on Twitter after an employee retweeted posts about the relatively low attendance at Trump’s inauguration, and about how the issues of climate change and civil rights had disappeared from the White House website.
The department has since resumed tweeting.

the trick with divide and conquer is that some of the goals will appease either side of the fence. And many fall for that.... meanwhile.
Trump is a war president too and many are in for a shock. The move of the embassy to jerusalem is already a hint.
HEADLINES TODAY
Trump State Department approves $1.8 billion in weapons sales to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.....US Republicans reintroduce Iran sanctions bill
divide and conquer is dualism in action and can only be addressed with a full fledged personal responsibility for what is. All the evil in the world. This law is immutable. And the strength of the NWO is that it knows that very few will do that because the majority has been trained to pull on their side of the blanket.
most people have no idea of real stakes. what the world needs is the end of dogmatic centralization, simple.

I am consistent with a self-centered state of mind, which is essential to obtain DEcentralization. That is how the NWO gets us, buying our consent with some goals that are a lot more valuable than others. But divide and conquer plays with DIFFERENT perceptions at once... and keep people polarized. Just as "I like the idea of the wall but hate the embassy move to israel"... that is how they buy people's opinions
meanwhile the real agenda under the table continues..
And yes, as long as we do not look at ANY situation the same way we look at the glass half empty and half full, they will control ALL sides of the fence. That is how dualism works. There is no way out other than taking full personal responsibility for everything.
There is no free will (and let alone freedom) without full responsibility for what is. Immutable Law

While I fully believe Trump is a man of war, that does not mean he will start one or ten with foreign nations.
He knew from the beginning that he will be in a perpetual war with domestic enemies, and most of his focus is on that.
This "blackout" is a small thing.

you are missing an important distinction. they can still whine all they want - as individuals on their own time and twitter accounts. but using public agency/funds/resources to push globalist warming and other propaganda should be shut down.

Update: according to a CNN report - so as always take with lots of salt - the story has shifted materially (http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/26/politics/top-state-department-officials-asked-to-leave-by-trump-administration/index.html?sr=twpol012617top-state-department-officials-asked-to-leave-by-trump-administration0652PMVODtopLink&linkId=33814657), because according to two senior administration officials, it wasn't a resignation by the State Department officials, but more of a termination: "the Trump administration told four top State Department management officials that their services were no longer needed as part of an effort to "clean house" at Foggy Bottom."
Patrick Kennedy, who served for nine years as the undersecretary for management, Assistant Secretaries for Administration and Consular Affairs Michele Bond and Joyce Anne Barr, and Ambassador Gentry Smith, director of the Office for Foreign Missions, were sent letters by the White House that their service was no longer required, the sources told CNN.
All four, career officers serving in positions appointed by the President, submitted letters of resignation per tradition at the beginning of a new administration. The letters from the White House said that their resignations were accepted and they were thanked for their service.
The White House usually asks career officials in such positions to stay on for a few months until their successors are confirmed.
"Any implication that that these four people quit is wrong," one senior State Department official said. "These people are loyal to the secretary, the President and to the State Department. There is just not any attempt here to dis the President. People are not quitting and running away in disgust. This is the White House cleaning house."
Mark Toner, the State Department's acting spokesman, said in a statement that "These positions are political appointments, and require the President to nominate and the Senate to confirm them in these roles. They are not career appointments but of limited term."
A second official echoed that the move appeared to be an effort by the new administration to "clean house" among the State Department's top leadership. "The department will not collapse," the second official said. "Everyone has good deputies. It's a huge institutional loss, but the department has excellent subordinates and the career people will step up. They will take up the responsibility."
Victoria Nuland, the State Department's assistant secretary for Europe, was also not asked to stay on.

Thank god! I already feel safer. The title is wrong though. I think a better one would be Soros civil war minister of Ukraine. May she die the agonizingly slow and exceedingly painful death of 50,000 paper cuts.

Border Patrol chief out day after Trump border fence decree
Published January 26, 2017
Associated Press (http://www.ap.org/)
WASHINGTON – The chief of the Border Patrol has left the agency that's in charge of securing America's borders with Mexico and Canada.
According to a U.S. official and a former official, Border Patrol agents have been told that Mark Morgan is no longer on the job. It's not immediately clear whether Morgan resigned or was asked to leave.
The U.S. official wasn't authorized to discuss the move before a public announcement and spoke on condition of anonymity. The former official asked not to be identified before a government announcement.
Morgan's departure comes a day after President Donald Trump announced plans to build a wall at the Mexican border and hire 5,000 Border Patrol agents.

Appears power is being centrally concentrated across the boards.
The additions at this point appear as heavy (if not heavier) than the subtractions.
Regardless the blackout is a point that otherside will have to counter with if needed to down the road.

One of the misgivings that I had about Trump (and still do) is that he seems to be a strong federalist. He talks about giving power back to the states and people, but we will see.

Is Trump a wolf in sheep’s clothing? His use of Executive Orders to implement the change we were hoping to see is the same tactic Obama employed to get his way while in the White House. It’s a tactic that is not constitutional., and it could easily be the slippery slope that leads into absolute Despotism if Trump goes off track. Marty from the MartyLeeds You Tube channel joins me to discuss.

CNN president Zucker claims credibility ‘higher than ever’
“I think our credibility is higher than ever, and our viewership is higher than ever, and our reporting is as strong as ever,” Jeff Zucker said in an interview with Gabriel Sherman at New York Magazine, published on Wednesday.
His comment comes at a time when CNN’s credibility is actually under scrutiny. CNN appeared at the center of a fake news controversy, having reported on an unverified memo that suggested that the Russian government is blackmailing President-elect Trump with compromising personal and financial information about him and that he has deep ties with the Russian government.
In a press-conference that followed shortly afterwards, Trump slammed CNN as “disgraceful” and also called Buzzfeed, another news network that published a report on the controversial memos, as “a failing pile of garbage.” The leader-in-waiting then refused to take a question from a CNN reporter during his first press conference since July.
“Be quiet. I’m not going to give you a question. You are fake news,” Trump said.
Trump later said that intelligence insiders confirmed to him that the much-hyped dossier, alleging that Moscow has compromising evidence on him, was a fake.

We, as a country, are saddled with a bureaucratic nightmare today that is the result of President Truman's restructuring of the federal government. This commenter illustrates the problem well.

Some may disagree, but the purpose of such a putative offensive directive is to ensure the mission statement or philosophy of the New Administration is carried out from the top down at the very start. Bureaucrats at mid-levels make policy- they are the ones who draft rules and regulations and write management manuals, issue permits, or answer correspondence which may require policy interpretation. A friend of mine from years ago was a high level official in a federal department. He said, “I didn’t realize when I took the job [which required Senate confirmation], that even though I held the title, was given the big corner office (and a chauffer driven government limo in DC] and had started to draft new procedure and policy, bureaucrat policy contrary to the administration continued to spew out the bowels of the agency with great volume.”
It makes no difference which political party has been in power or who is in charge at high levels, government bureaucracies are generally accountable to no one, and continue to make policy. And, that is precisely why there is a TEMPORARY lock down, not only at Interior, but also EPA where very costly and poorly vetted regulations are promulgated by bureaucrats who want to show they are doing something, but which do little to improve the environment for the amount of money spent by the regulated community, which in addition to industry include states, counties, cities and special districts.
If you can get past the smell of this particular Administration as it begins to take power, the process of temporarily slowing things down is actually a best management practice, though I suspect most here would not agree.
