MINNEAPOLIS - Day three of the Allen Scarsella trial included medical testimony and videos from the night of the shooting at the Minneapolis Police 4th Precinct protest.

Allen Scarsella is charged with assault and riot for shooting five Black Lives Matter protesters during the Jamar Clark protests. Scarsella has admitted to shooting the protesters but says he did so only because he felt his life was in danger.

Dr. John Cumming, an HCMC emergency surgeon, testified about the life-threatening injuries suffered by one of the five men shot the night of Nov. 23, 2015. Cumming said Teven King lost about three liters of blood after being shot in the abdomen, and would not have survived if he wasn’t treated.

Nicholas Georgiades, an independent journalist with “Unicorn Riot,” who live streamed the 4th Precinct protests, also testified Thursday. Georgiades said he interviewed Scarsella and his friend Julio Suarez on Nov. 18, four days before the shooting. Georgiades testified that he found it bizarre how the two men sought him out and made strange statements, including referring to “melanin-enriched communities.”

The jury also viewed videos taken the night of the shooting. However, the high-quality video captured by the Minneapolis Police Department shows just about everything except for the actual shooting.

It begins with four men, Scarsella and three other suspects Daniel Macey, Nathan Gustavsson, and Joseph Backman, standing near a fence. Within moments, a couple dozen protesters surround them and the entire crowd moves around the corner and out of the camera's frame.

The next thing you see is people running back into the frame and scattering.

The last witness on the stand Thursday testified that she heard someone yell the N-word just before the shooting.

Martin said Scarsella and three other men — Daniel Macey, Joseph Backman and Nathan Gustavsson — went to the protest to observe and livestream the event. Scarsella and the others didn't approach any of the protesters, Martin said.

The four men were soon surrounded by 30 to 40 protesters who asked why they were there, Scarsella's attorney said, and demanded the men remove their ski masks.

After Scarsella yelled at them to stay back, six or seven people grabbed and punched him and Gustavsson, Martin said.

Martin described his client as "scared out of his mind" and thought he saw someone in the group with a gun. So, Scarsella pulled out his weapon and "bullets flew everywhere."

Jurors watched two videos the men recorded, in which they make derogatory comments about black people, and share a negative view of the protest. Suarez said he made the video in an attempt to “gain internet fame” and get laughs out of fellow members of a weapons message board called /k/ on 4chan.org.

Suarez appeared uncomfortable on the witness stand as assistant county attorney Judith Hawley questioned him about the various racially-charged statements he made on the video. At one point Suarez was heard saying “If I get in trouble for yelling ‘Master Race,’ there is just one ‘Final Solution,’” and “This wouldn’t happen if they had more money for their programs.”

Suarez explained that he was repeating “memes” that are shared on the message board, and testified that he stayed home when Scarsella and three other friends returned to the protest the night of the shooting.

In a video shot by independent journalism organization "Unicorn Riot," Scarsella refers to “melonin-enriched communities.” Suarez claimed that commented also originated from an internet meme.

Testimony ended Wednesday with Nicholas Georgiades, a Unicorn Riot journalist, on the witness stand. Some of the five shooting victims may testify when the prosecution continues its case Thursday morning.

Sounds to me like someone was being stupid in a no stupid zone and is now having to deal with the aftermath of his (their) poor choices.
