yes on balance I still think that CalExit would be good for USA...and probably good-er for Cali as well. Even if they are the food basket state they will need to sell that produce to someone. So I don't see a big negative there. Plus less drain on everyone else paying the welfare bill. And maybe Congress will make them pay their share of the imaginary debt before they can leave.
very few downsides as far as I can see.

No wonder it's a socialist paradise. The rest of the country is footing the bill.
It reminds me of the Washington DC area where the main industry is wage confiscation and degreed, indoctrinated nitwits make 80K a year.

I submit that anyone anywhere who partakes of welfare could claim he/she is in California.
Or ... as Pennywise would state it ... "WE ALL FLOAT DOWN HERE"
The STATE is one of MIND.

More from the article:
California is third among states in per-capita spending on welfare:
$179
New York leads the nation:
$256
----------------------------------
And a thought- under a popular vote scenario, NYC and LA+SF (and Chicago) would pick the president. Think there is a connection?

Despite California's enormous socio-political problems, it remains an economic powerhouse. And because of it, still a net-generator of Federal taxes - that means despite the monster welfare bill, California still sends more to Washington than it receives.
Indeed, yes, California does attract those "seeking an easier life," due to the climate here. However, not all of them are illegals, criminals, and losers. I've met a lot of folks from all over the country who've moved out here because the jobs in their home areas disappeared, and, living poor in a colder climate is, at best, more difficult, at worse, potentially lethal.
While you outside of California are not paying for the welfare burden here, those of us in California most definitely are. My Mom got a large postcard in the mail recently from the United Way, mass-sent to all addresses, notifying everyone of the latest of Excremento's White/productive people to anchor baby/non-White wealth transfer scheme. Excremento has now implemented a California "Earned Income Tax Credit," like the Federal regime. Great for those with under-the-table income and a platoon of offspring; not so much for everyone else.

Californians, remember this when Excremento tells you they "can't afford" to fix our infrastructure and demand you pay the unconstitutional "use tax."

liberal canard - hear same thing every time i post about welfare in commie states
i'll give you just one example to destroy it:
cali state gov was bankrupt. jpm (frbny) 'loaned' cali billions at 0.5% interest. of course no profit seeking bank would tie up a large sum for 0.5 percent - the inflation alone eats them alive....then add opp cost of leveraging that sum up
i speculate that NO state sends in more than it gets back. how can it be a zero sum game with trillions in fed debt and trillion/yr deficit?
http://blogs.wsj.com/deals/2009/08/19/head-west-big-bank-inside-jp-morgans-california-loan-deal/
J.P. Morgan Chase to the rescue. The New York bank has agreed to loan the struggling state of California $1.5 billion to generate some badly needed operating cash. The loan agreement is meant to tide the state over until it can get a deal for a much larger $10.5 billion loan which should help the state’s cash needs through 2010.
The bank agreed to the loan without any collateral from California, which has seen its credit badly bruised by a months-long fiscal crisis. Second, the loan will enable the state to stop issuing IOU’s to vendors and start paying them in cash. But one reason the IOUs became untenable was because banks, such as J.P. Morgan, Citigroup and Bank of America, stopped honoring the IOUs and advancing the vendors cash. The banks said they did this because they didn’t want to prolong the budgetary showdown in the legislature that was at the heart of the state’s cash problems.
J.P. Morgan says it loaned the money to California as part of its “social mission” to help a struggling state.

I'm sorry, it's a fact. If you don't live in California, you are not "supporting the Welfare State."

Please show us the figures that demonstrate this.
how can it be a zero sum game with trillions in fed debt and trillion/yr deficit?
We know that in the last 15 years alone $6.5 Trillion "went missing" from the Pentagram's budget.
I'm sure there's plenty more. Combine these "missing" funds with all the above-ground funding for war & "security" (Iraq cost, what, $2 Trillion?), and you account for most or even all of the national debt.
"Welfare" is simply not the problem, and never has been. Especially not the Federal insurance programs (SS and Medicare). Social Security and Medicare are "not sustainable" because most of their "trust funds" were diverted to war and "security."
That said, we are in no position to be offering foreign "guests" anything but emergency medical treatment for free. I'm sure we can save a couple hundred billion, or more, annually, if the anchor babies and their hatcheries were cut off.
As for (((J.P. Morgan Chase))), they obviously helped themselves to unearned usury proceeds from the taxpayers of California. But again, not your problem.

I'm sure there's plenty more. Combine these "missing" funds with all the above-ground funding for war & "security" (iraq cost, what, $2 trillion?), and you account for most or even all of the national debt. war is another form of funding welfare for cali - see defense corps in cali
the money flows from me to dc to cali defense contractors to cali treasury to welfare leeches
"welfare" is simply not the problem, and never has been. especially not the federal insurance programs (ss and medicare). Social security and medicare are "not sustainable" because most of their "trust funds" were diverted to war and "security." welfare on that scale is a problem - tells about the mindset of the gov and who they serve and how they vote and protest and riot,
that said, we are in no position to be offering foreign "guests" anything but emergency medical treatment for free. I'm sure we can save a couple hundred billion, or more, annually, if the anchor babies and their hatcheries were cut off.
As for (((j.p. Morgan chase))), they obviously helped themselves to unearned usury proceeds from the taxpayers of california. But again, not your problem. 0.5% from nyc monster bank is not welfare? Even though jpm said so themselves?

When I was looking for a job, I received quite a few interests as well as offers for employment out in California. I would always respond with the same answer. I said your state has deemed it necessary that I do not have the right to defend myself, I have a CCW permit in my current state that California does not recognize, yet if I move there it will be next to impossible to receive one.
Thanks but no thanks. I ended up moving to South Carolina which got close to passing a constitutional carry bill 2 years ago (eliminating the need for a CCW license.).

cali number one in receiving federal money. this money is taken from me and ends up in illegal alien pockets (with a few middlemen along the way)
http://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/2012/08/03/states-that-get-most-federal-money.html
The states that receive the most money from the federal government each year are, generally, the most populous ones. In 2010, eight of the 10 states with the highest population received the most. California, the most populous state in the country, receives the largest share -

let's follow a dollar -
taken from me, given to dc, given to cali warfare co, given to warfare worker, warfare worker then pays income tax on my dollar - to cali treasury and dc treasury
cali then claims this dollar was taken out of cali economy and sent back to dc as tax. when in reality it was taken from me -
the liars then compare this cali dollar sent in to the dollars dc gives them in direct (unhidden) welfare. massive lie
the dollars should be ADDED together, not claimed as offsets. liberals play games with the numbers to claim 'blue' states are net contributors while 'red' states are welfare leeches surprised that crimethink is falling for this ploy
anyone buying that blue states are carrying the red states are idiots or liars
this is the result of liberal agenda pseudo math:

now let's go ahead and spike the football. looking at that list of states - a list dominated by federalists/communists - advocating for more and bigger federal government every chance they get.
would they be doing this if they get f--ed over by the system - losing more and more the bigger it gets? NO. unless their aim is to increase their funding of the red states/flyover states out of the goodness of their heart and love for their sworn enemies (that they wish would die)
words/numbers are cheap. ACTIONS speak much MUCH louder. their actions tell that more federalist = more for them.
their lies about federal money give/take are easily exposed by first grade logic.
new jersey, new york, illinois, california, connecticut, massachusetts, washington, colorado, wisconsin - all say hurt us more, help the red states!
