Iran is 3 time larger than Iraq and has some powerful friends - it would be wise to not become militarily engaged in a war against Iran, Russia, and China - especially with the US not in the best shape to fight after 15 years of constant war. US military morale is not high, many soldiers and officers want out.

What is wise and what the rulers of this planet want greatly diverge.

The United States remains the last obstacle to de jure world government. Running this country into the ground may be the objective.
