Infant Twins Die Simultaneously After Vaccines, Medical Board Rules ‘Just a Coincidence’BENGALURU: On December 4, 2015, this couple's world came crashing down as they lost their fourmonth-old twin daughters. It's been a month but the bereaved parents still don't know what caused the girls' deaths. Yet to come to terms with the tragedy, the father is running from pillar to post to know where the responsibility lies. The twins died a day after they were administered polio and pentavalent vaccines.
The postmortem report too hasn't been able to pinpoint the cause of death, seeking further chemical and histopathological analysis, sources said. The autopsy was conducted by doctors at Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) hospital.
Disha and Sanvi, daughters of Lunesh Singh and Hemalatha, were given the second dose of po lio and pentavalent vaccines on December 3 at the BBMP health centre in Bapuji Nagar. The next day , the twins got sick and were rushed to a private hospital near Hanumanthnagar. They were declared brought dead.

Given that the sudden and simultaneous deaths of twins rarely occur, you would think- especially given the fact that they had been recently vaccinated (http://www.healthnutnews.com/nurses-healthcare-workers-refusing-mandatory-flu-vaccines/)– that it would receive quite a bit of attention. However, this story went largely unreported. (In order for twins to meet the criteria for simultaneous SIDS both babies must have died independently and within the same 24 hour time period.)
(Let this sink in: a medical journal is reporting that twins, who were recently vaccinated (http://www.healthnutnews.com/exposing-truth-vaccines-movie-worth-watching/), both died but it’s nothing more than the luck of the draw. Unexplainable. That makes about as much sense as pediatricians who claim some kids “just get fevers all the time.”)

AbstractThe simultaneous sudden deaths of twins rarely occur and therefore it has received limited attention in the medical literature. When the deaths of the twins meet the defined criteria for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) independently and take place within the same 24 h range it can be called as simultaneous SIDS (SSIDS). The case(s): Twin girls (3.5-month-old) were found dead by their mother in their crib, both in supine position. The infants were identical twins and delivered at a hospital by cesarean section. Both infants were healthy and did not have any serious medical history. Two days prior to the incident, the twins had received the second dose of oral polio, DPT and the first dose of hepatitis B vaccines and they had fever on the first day of the vaccination and been given teaspoonful of acetaminophen. Death scene investigation, judicial investigation, parental assessment, macroscopic and microscopic autopsy findings and the toxicological analysis did not yield any specific cause of death. The case(s) were referred to a supreme board composed of multidisciplinary medical professionals at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Ministry of Justice, in Istanbul. The Board decided that the available data was consistent with SIDS. These SIDS case(s) are presented because twin SIDS are rare and this is the first time that a simultaneous twin SIDS have been reported in Turkey. Simultaneous SIDS cases have many implications regarding definition, diagnosis and medico-legal approach.
