Dont think it is good news for the platinum price. More knowledge cheapens the costs of life to the point to make human labor obsolete. What speculation ???

Solar power could get even more affordable as scientists discover way to replace platinum components with 3D graphene
19 February 2017 GMT

‘Although solar power is one of the most popular forms of green energy, it certainly is not without flaw. For example, according to Diana Furchtgott-Roth, Director of Economics at the Manhattan Institute, solar energy is responsible for less than one percent of the country’s electricity, yet it costs almost twice as much to produce as natural gas. However, with technology advancing everyday, Americans are constantly finding new ways to manufacture products so that they are cheaper yet just as effective.

Dye-sensitized solar cells, which are one of the most promising types of solar cells in existence, are very efficient at transforming sunshine into energy, yet they are very expensive. This is because dye-sensitized solar cells are made primarily out of platinum, which costs a whopping $1,500 an ounce. Obviously, the cost of producing these cells is passed along to the consumer, making them anything but affordable.’

New Wind Turbine Generates Electricity Without Rotating Blades

This new wind turbine wobbles elegantly in the wind, generating electricity without rotating blades. “It looks like asparagus,” says David Suriol, one of the founders.

A Spanish company called Vortex Bladeless has produced a wind turbine that takes advantage of the vortices produced when wind moves around an obstacle.

Vortex Bladeless engineers have designed their turbine to take advantage of this vortex. The thin, cone-shaped turbine is made of carbon fiber and fiberglass with the motor at the bottom instead of the top (like traditional turbines) to improve sturdiness. The design ensures that the wind's vortex spins synchronously along the entire cone. “The swirls have to work together to achieve good performance,” Villarreal explains. There is also a ring of magnets at the base of the cone that give the rotations a boost regardless of wind speed.....

Knowledge is the end result entropy of laboriously thinking.

That only leads to more questions that the machine mind has no reason to form.

I look at it the other way: instead of buying cheap stuff from china, we'd be soon designing our own furniture and cloths with 3D printing for example.

One thing is certain is that the era of bottom feeders is ending because profit seeking has squeezed them to d-e-a-t-h.

But that is pure digression: agenda 21 is rolling behind the curtain

That wind turbine seems to have some in common with Ponces idea to generate electric energy from trees moving in the wind!

I miss him...

I'd rather be a bottom feeder and purchase my clothes from another bottom feeder who were 3D printing them for me.

That = bottom feeders X2 :)

The world will never be void of bottom feeders, u just need to get out of the U.S. more often.

Robot fantasies only exist in the minds of human robots.
