A Police News reporter investigating a Home Depot incident in Houston recently reported he has discovered that an internal memo from Home Depot outlines that associates cannot accuse, detain, chase or call the police on any customer for shoplifting.

This explains why the store employees Sunday didn't chase after the thieves in an incident where the reporter happened to be in the Home Depot when a thief ran from the store and some employees were disgruntled they were prohibited from pursuing him.

The reporter says that what he has found out so far, Lowes pretty much has the same policy as does Academy Sports & Outdoors and Sears.

These employees in the story below found out the hard way.

Four Florida Home Depot employees were fired last week after they attempted to stop a shoplifter.

Jeffrey Miller, 59, George Ippolito, 56, Joe Spector, 29, and Jazmin Kelly, 27, worked together to try and track down a customer on Nov. 19 who appeared to be shoplifting at the Palm Coast store last month.

Little did the co-workers know, their well-intentioned efforts were against store policy.

So, free stuff at Home Depot! Just put on a mask so the cameras can't identify you, take the expensive tools you need, and walk right back on out.

Someone got past others in my office somehow and made off with some company checks. While reviewing company checking account I noticed that there had been a $200 check passed at Target. Discovered this on a Saturday so bank is closed. Go to Target and speak with their 'asset protection' guy (actual job title). He is unable to find the transaction from ~48 hours or less earlier. Monday I put in stop payment for all missing company checks. Contact Target and talk to AP guy again offer to assist in nailing culprit. Get this - he told me I needed to file a police report before they would go after the varmint. I advised AP guy that a stop payment had been made so I wasn't the victim Target was. He advised me that without ME making a police report they were uninterested in going after the varmint so Target apparently is unconcerned about being ripped off for $200.

Which is another example of why the retail entities are going the way of the dinosaurs. That asset protection guy will be collecting food stamps by this time next year

Its because 200 dollars retail is like 20 bucks to them, not cost effective to bother with.

I agree but by not pursuing and filing complaints they encourage more theft as they will quickly be known as an easy mark. Those double sawbucks add up after a while!

Harbor Freight and Walgreens also don't allow their non security people to do this.

Even stores where the loss prevention pursues it is just to get a pic of the perp and car.
I don't think many major chains use force for apprehensions anymore.
Lawsuits.

No worries, the Goyim will pay.

I can see reasons why financially declining stores would actually want to secretly hire people to steal from them.

Just sayin'

Stealing is a sin.
Exodus 20:15 Thou shalt not steal.
This is SIN is getting a "pass" so.... what's new in THIS day and age?

Give a man a gun, and he can rob a bank.

Give a man a bank, and he can rob the world.

Sin is accepted if it's big, and condemned when small or the victim is big.

Meanwhile, at our local Mall-Wart, the Receipt KGB have taken up permanent residence at the exit. Used to be just during Christmastime. Now it's permanent.

So far, no one has gotten in my face about refusing to show a receipt, although the last dude got smart with me. I said "no, thanks" when he wanted my receipt, and he said, "Really?!" I said, "yeah, it's not legally required." He went off about "it's my job," and I told him, "with all due respect, I have the right to say no," and wished him a good evening, to his smirks.

Most sheeple just queue up and wait for them to "check" receipts (a quick glance "checks" nothing).

My understanding is that Wal-Mart policy is to not force customers to show receipts, including not blocking people from leaving sans a probable cause for shoplifting, but there are scattered reports of Wal-Mart employees thinking they're "heroes" working for the multi-billionaire Waltons at minimum wage, and get nasty with customers anyway.

A friend of mine used to work at a Walmart, and told me that 90%+ of all theft was latinos, and if confronted before getting out of the store, they'd pretend to not speak english, and pretend to be confused and innocent, while giving the items back. It was all bullshit; when they'd get away, they'd come back the next day with the stolen items trying to return the item for a cash refund, with no receipt. And their store policy was to give them the refund, as they couldn't then prove the items were stolen.

This sounds like the racket I was getting at - something like the Soros Insurance / Stop Loss plan for tanking stores.
