For the heimlich maneuver to work, you've got to make a tight fist, wrap it with your other hand and drive it hard and deep right under the ribcage, up and in with what you've got.

It's good to slide a leg between the victim, in case they collapse you can lower them down that way safely. If it doesn't work, start CPR.

Or..you can do what Bob does, that works too.
