Rachel Maddow teased a big reveal on her Tuesday night show, tweeting earlier in the afternoon that she had gained access to President Donald Trump's tax returns.
The MSNBC host promised to release the returns on her show at 9 p.m. ET.
"BREAKING: We've got Trump tax returns," Maddow wrote, with the network even displaying a "Trump Taxes Countdown Clock" prior to the airing of her show.
The news got Twitter users abuzz about what she was planning to reveal.
However, as Maddow started off her show talking about Trump's reasons for not releasing his taxes, and questioning "cageyness" around Michael Flynn and his ties to Turkey, along with Trump's questionable real estate deals, among many others topics, viewers began to get restless.
Eighteen minutes in, she said she'd get to the tax return "next" — and then cut to a commercial break.
When she came back, she still continued to delay the big reveal through another commercial break.

Rachel Maddow’s non-bombshell bombshell on Trump’s tax returns completely flopped, and the outcome has been entertaining, to say the least. Remember the good ol’ days, when Hillary Clinton and her minions wondered if Trump evaded paying taxes altogether?

“Or maybe he doesn’t want the American people, all of you watching tonight, to know that he’s paid nothing in federal taxes,” Hillary said during that debate. “Because the only years that anybody has ever seen, were a couple of years where he had to turn them over to state authorities when he was trying to get a casino license. And they showed he didn’t pay any federal income tax.”
