Happens all over Iraq as well. There is a documentary about Fallujah in particular where these types of deformities are common.

Even to this day children are being born with deformities in Vietnam due to the usage of Agent Orange.

Hey lets take a radioactive yet extremely dense material and turn it into an Anti-tank weapon.

Instead they could just take Tungsten, which is just as dense but doesn't provide the nuclear power companies the benefit of "rewarding" (i.e. government contractors buying the nuclear waste) and turning it into ammunition to be dumped in foreign countries.
