I wonder what happened to the 2.75 billion ounces they borrowed from the treasury to build the Calutrons at K-12 in oak ridge for enriching the uranium for the atom bomb, Manhattan project.

I have seen a lot of silver bars from around 1981 that are marked "U.S. Assay Office - San Francisco - FROM U.S. STRATEGIC STOCKPILE." Basically, it was converted to small bars and sold to the public.
