View Full Version : I bit the bullet and sold my silver

I have been buying and selling silver for 15 years. I made a little money. Enough money that I am going on a vacation to Costa Rica and Panama in August and still have a little money left over for some "Good Food" and some "Good Wine".

I will have a small capital gains at the tax year. Some of the silver I sold, I made money, some I lost money. It will even out but I am not concerned about that yet. I bought low and then I bought high like many people here probably did also. (I took it in the shorts on some purchases.)

I lost what gold I had in a boating accident...

I am on the backside of 60 years old and I thought , "What the hell ?". Sell what you cannot carry and enjoy life while you can. That's what I am going to do.

Oh and... Enjoy life this week!!!

One of the reasons we stack silver is so that we can live well down the line. It looks like you are doing just that, so congrats on enjoying the wealth you've kept.

Make sure you take lots of pictures on your trip; you'll have a lot of fond memories to recall once it's all over.

That's pretty much spot on (pun intended) Congrats to you Atocha! Enjoy the fruits of your efforts

Yes! Enjoy yourself. Our "preps" since GIM1 days seem to be covered in dust unused if not expired. In hindsight, most of it was end-of-the-world fear mongering to sell us shit (https://survivalblog.com/advertise/).

buying and owning precious metals for me would be about maintaining the value and not really any expectation of making profit. I think in these times keeping what you have out of the clutches of crocked money mangers and leeching politicians and bankers is as close to making money as you're going to get. If you let them at it, they will deplete it sending you backwards. If you keep it away from them you can maintain it and not go backwards. Keeping your head above water, if only just, is better than the other options.

then at the end of it, you at least still have what you started with. One of these days I might actually do something about all of that and buy some pm's.

You should retain at least 2 separate ounces to rub together and wish on them like Dorothy... :)

I have to imagine that once you hit retirement, silver becomes to damn heavy to be lugging around when the SHTF.

Trump got elected so at least the gulags are on hold for a while. Seems like now is a good time to cash in on that dividend.

I did because I didnt have another option as I was doing internships on farms with no salary coming in... but no regret. The profit allowed me to live another 8-9 months without worries...

but now I have surrendered to the Universe as I believe in Synchronicity... so do not stress about anything atocha!!!

I need air, water, food and shelter to live. Profit is something that damages others and benefits me not one bit.

I thought the same thing. The problem is the Precious Metal market is manipulated. The rules of supply and demand do not apply.

The way everyone talked, it was going to the "MOON"...

What's it going to take to end the silver manipulation?

What's it going to take to end the silver manipulation?

Sterilize the planet of all human life would or could be the only option to eliminate greed, that would work or is possibly the only solution.

Enjoy the fruits of your efforts

Ecclesiastes 2:24 There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.
Ecclesiastes 3:13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.
Ecclesiastes 5:18 Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.

I could use a couple extra silver ounces to rub together so it's off to the coin shop for me.

Meanwhile....

Hate to be bearer of bad news, but you sold your silver at the wrong time. 2011 was a screaming sell time - anybody that missed that event should just hold tight. Personally, I've been loading up on silver for the past couple of years - after selling almost everything @47, that I acquired most for under 5 and the rest around 7.

I've been sitting on gold bought @1400, and just wasn't excited enough to sell @1900 - probably should have in retrospect, but it's hard to predict the future:)

I expect a dollar crisis at some point with all the unpayable debt and the deep hatred Amer/Israel has cultivated across the world. Nothing happens, then it does.

Buy right and sit tight.

You did excellent by buying low and selling super high!. Was this when the Hunt Brothers were trying to corner the market??

It all depends on what I paid for it.

I do understand your point though.

I would rather have a little bit of something than a whole lot of nothing.

Also, I am to old to be lugging weight around.

No major smack down in over two weeks now by the CB's.

Looks like they are trying today i don't know how many paper silver contracts they are selling but silver is holding easily above 18.

Hearing reports about more people taking delivery of physical but they are still short over a billion ounces of physical.

Where you going to buy a billion ounces of physical silver?

Nowhere.

Hunt Brothers? That was 1970's! I'm talking 2003 to 2011 - it was under 5 in 2003 and almost 50 in 2011.

Bro! Where were u in 02?! ;)

Anyway, silver isn't going anywhere that fast with gold and bitcoin targeting it.

If any of these smaller nations grow a set of balls and form some sort of bimetal consortium appears its only chance.

Its not a too far out notion with the peak financials in play.
