Supposedly it was hyped up in advertising too (I didn't see any) ... but still having a hard time selling.

But, the Mint must be shocked at such a low first-day sales number with all the national media attention they got on tv, radio, newspapers & magazines across the USA & around the world due to their 225th anniversary & this new coin design. As I posted here about a month ago, PCGS conducted a poll on its website of some of the most active coin collectors, investors & dealers & flippers in the world & approximately 70 percent said they would not buy this gold coin. That poll turned out to be right. Even many coin dealers & flippers just said “No”. This coin will never sell out as I said before IMHO & that is great for those who purchased one as the final sales figure will probably be way, way less than the very high maximum mintage of 100,000 coins & therefore will have a chance of holding its value well over time. Even if gold goes down $150 per ounce, I just don’t see this one selling as many as the first in this American Liberty $100 high relief coin series in 2015 (Caucasian Lady Liberty) which had the same basic specifications but was not a Proof version.
I look forward to the other coins in this series every two years from now representing different ethnicities.

They did it to cater to the massive amount of black coin collectors out there. You think that numismatics is a hobby for civilized White people? You racist! Just go into any ghetto or project and see for yourself how many fine outstanding black gentlemen are discussing their favorite numismatic masterpieces of old. Plus, we all know that really, high culture and civilization is only thanks to black people, and has been stolen from them by evil White people, so it's only fair that blacks finally get their due on a classical gold coin. :)
