There may well be some social engineering involved, and you may not find her attractive, but she apparently is a scientist (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%A1ra_McCullough):

"She attended South Carolina State University (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Carolina_State_University), where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bachelor_of_Science) degree in chemistry with a concentration in radiochemistry (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiochemistry)..."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Carolina_State_University

South Carolina State University (often referred to as SCSU or SC State) is a four-year historically black university located in Orangeburg, South Carolina, United States. It is the only state funded, historically black land-grant institution in South Carolina, is a member-school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

S.C. State vows to improve 13.7% graduation rate

“The negative kind of statements about the quality of this university and the value of this university (need) to be taken off the table because we are valuable, and we do offer quality,” Elzey said.

S.C. State’s enrollment has fallen 20 percent recently but the school failed to cut its budget to match lost tuition payments. As a result, the state’s only historically black public university owes vendors $10 million in unpaid bills. To reduce costs, cuts have been made to staff and are being considered for athletics, the school’s president said.

The school wants its state taxpayer money doubled – to nearly $27 million in the fiscal year that starts July 1, including money to pay off the state loan – from $13 million this year.

here's some science! segregation harms health. they leave more unsaid than said

http://www.chicagotribune.com/lifestyles/health/ct-blood-pressure-segregation-study-northwestern-met-20170515-story.html

Where you live — even down to the specific neighborhood — might have an impact on your blood pressure, a new study led by a Northwestern University researcher suggests.

The study authors looked at data from 2,280 African-Americans whose health has been tracked for decades and discovered what they called a "powerful effect": Those who moved out of highly segregated neighborhoods saw a drop in their blood pressure.

The correlation between less segregated areas and lower blood pressure is likely related to less stress and better access to exercise, medical care and healthier food, researchers say.

The paper, published Monday in JAMA Internal Medicine, is based on data from black participants in the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults study, or CARDIA, which was launched in the 1980s and ever since has tracked the health of several thousands participants in Chicago; Minneapolis; Oakland, Calif.; and Birmingham, Ala.

Kiarri Kershaw, assistant professor of preventive medicine at Northwestern and lead author of the blood pressure study, decided to look at African-Americans who had moved and how that related to changes in their blood pressure. She found that blood pressure in those participants dropped 1 to 5 points. And, Kershaw said, those who remained in less segregated areas saw larger drops in blood pressure, between 3 and 5 points, than those who returned to highly segregated areas.

Kershaw said the data created an unusual opportunity because most research into how racial segregation affects health involves comparing groups of people in different neighborhoods, rather than being able to track individuals over time

Yeah, I suppose removing one's self from a crime infested area would certainly result in their BP dropping as well as other benefits. I could've told anyone that for a fraction of the cost they got paid to do that 'study'.

Except for the fact Affirmative Action was behind all of the "achievements."

Hitch, I know how to work a Geiger counter and calculate Sieverts, too, and didn't need the "degree."

A spokeswoman at the NRC explained what McCullough does as an “emergency preparedness specialist” in the agency’s Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response: Basically, she reviews emergency plans for nuclear power plants to determine if they meet regulators’ muster (glittery gowns and bikinis are obviously not part of the dress code). A radiochemist by education who has worked for the agency for four years, she is also on a team that would rush to the agency’s operations center if something were to go south at a nuclear facility.

I have some familiarity with these so-called "plans," and they are more half-assed than TEPCO's for Fukushima.

~ 1 percent of US population

http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/tv-ratings-miss-usa-pageant-2017-fox-1202426936/

Airing on Fox from 8-10 p.m., the pageant drew an estimated 0.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 2.9 million viewers. Compared to last year (1.1, 4 million), that is a decline of over 27% in both key measures. Last year’s pageant was down a similar percentage compared to when it last aired on NBC in 2014. NBC cut ties with the pageant when they ended their relationship with Donald Trump, who formerly owned it, in 2015. Miss USA aired on cable channel Reelz that year.

Racist Trump! We could have had Negro "beauty" queens for many years past.

Several of them under Trump:

Good god, each one homelier than the next...

The animated model on amazon's home page is better looking than any of those "winners"

Not only that, but these pageants are actually child abuse as well. Young girls being taught and raised their purpose in life, and their value as a person, is directly related to the pageants. If they don't win, they get crushed and have self esteem issues.

Ok. A chemist?

Chemist has a couple definitions. Since she is black, I'd lean toward the slang definition.

I don't believe you have any right to judge her, nor judge me, either..

You are a talking head on an internet forum. That's it. That's all we all are here, so you are not alone. Basically, your opinion means dick and don't take that personally.

She entered a beauty pageant. She pretty much gave the whole world the right to judge her.

Yeah not so sure that one belongs in a pageant anywhere. Calused and dried kneecaps deduct like 10 points for me.

I wonder what she could have been doing to get her knees all worn and dingy like that. Any guesses?

Newly-crowned Miss USA Kara McCullough is walking back an answer she gave during Sunday night’s competition, during which she called health care “a privilege.”

In an interview Tuesday on Good Morning America, McCullough changed her position and said she now believes health care is “a right.”

“I am privileged to have health care and I do believe that it should be a right,” McCullough said. “I hope and pray moving forward that health care is a right for all worldwide.”

“I am privileged to have health care and I do believe that it should be a right,” McCullough said. “I hope and pray moving forward that health care is a right for all worldwide.”

Someone pointed out to her that her race wouldn't exist if health care were merely a "privilege" (of the rich).
