I've probably had cat. Not sure about dog. No snake as yet. Or those eggs they bury for years. Or ... can't recall it's name....rancid prawns. But plenty of other things. Chinese eat everything. It's what they do. Now food hygiene, thats a different story. And why you should be careful eating some places. Get those hepatitis's and you're in trouble.

This is the video youtube and others censor, because Americans cannot know how Asians treat their livestock.

In America, only negro violence is allowed.

Western abattoirs are not cruelty free either. Not saying any of it is right. Just sometimes we're pointing at a mirror.

Good luck with the fish n chips. One of the best meals there is. I like light fish that isn't too strong on smell or flavor. Not sure what cat fish is like. We have nearly as many Fish n Chip shops as we do Pubs. Most of the time there's no telling what fish they are really giving you down here but still tastes good. Everything tastes good with ketchup though. And beer.

Beer batter? Unfortunately when you get to an age, you've got to think about how much slack you're pants have in them. Fish n chips needs a bit more slack than it used to.

came out pretty good - internet brit beer batter recipe plus the catfish. around here brit fish.chips are scarce, so i have no idea what quality is :)

my hood - houston - is all about meskin food. competition fierce as mx restaurants everywhere. would be a good move to haul a truckload of meskins up north and open a restaurant.....standing room only

Dogs have been "man's best friend" for 10,000 years. Cats about the same. At least in White cultures.

Could cattle (etc.) slaughter be improved? Sure. But cows are not our companions.

When I was growing up Fish n chip shops were all run by Greek immigrants, we had Italian and Greeks emigrate in the 30's and 40's. Built the roads, railways and market gardens. Then Poms (brits) in the 50's. Built the telephones and hospitals. Drove the trains. Then it was Vietnamese in the 70s. Took over the market gardens. Now most of the Fish n Chip shops are run by Vietnamese. It's hit and miss but the Greeks and Italians, always good. Funny that it's a british favorite... but only to eat, not to cook apparently. I remember helping a friend from school make the chips from real potatoes at his families FnC shop when I was knee high. Now every thing comes in a freezer bag with canola on it.

btw the Chinese came in the early 1900's for the gold. Japanese for the pearls.

yes I understand that. I don't like the idea that they get eaten. But in asia Cats and Dogs run free. Occasionally they will find someone who will put food down for them, but no one ever owns them like they do in the west.

You see a lot of signs on lampposts here of missing pets. I know.... that they mostly get picked up and end up on a plate. Some cats might be used in dog training. Owners may or may not realize it. I've seen the occasional pet carrier cage in the back of vans. You know the van driver is not a pet owner, but an opportunist. Chinese eat anything... as do some other nationalities. It's just how it is. If I caught someone at it here there'd be a problem but in asia it's what they do.

Pet ownership is rapidly rising in Asia, including China.

China is now third and second for dog and cat ownership, respectively...and not for dining purposes.

Yes, I know it's what they do, but what they do is an abomination. Eating dogs are like eating one's cousin or even sibling. Yes, I am "ethnocentric," and no, I do not care about who finds that "offensive." Eating dogs is wrong.

I guess given China is supposed to have a billion people, on the basis of a number count, the Nouveau riche could have a high number of yapp yapps, rat dogs and expensive status cats. But it won't account for the thousands to 1 that aren't.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I can't link to my eyeballs, that have been to many asian countries over many decades and seen all the unowned cats and dogs. Granted many hang around particular compounds or shanty's but thats just because they are territorial. They seem to be more communal that specifically owned. Personally I wouldn't go near one. Rabies being a thing

Anyway, in terms of this discussion, growing pet ownership there is definitely a good thing for cats and dogs.

Chinese came in the early 1900's for the gold. Japanese for the pearls.Methinks the Jews over there facilitated their emigration to North America by telling them how great life is here and providing them with transportation and then giving them jobs on their railroad construction teams.
