Selling out to Verizon.
Keep this in mind and up, big buzz will own most of the Internet.
My own thoughts are "Own the wires or fiber" you own the information.
Which = Control of information of any kind
Be afraid, the walls are pressing in.
Spoofing will not work for they that hide.

Hard to tell, since yahoo is such a big purchase and there's the human 'speculation' factor. VZ has been stagnant, not doing much for awhile, it wouldn't surprise me if this got new investors interested in the stock.

but that yahoo woman skype genius maximized shareholder value, engineering an incredible turnaround - so nothing left on the bone for vz after several years under the mastermindress

Our stock market is a joke. Nothing makes sense logically. Yahoo doesn't really produce anything tangible, just "digits on a computer somewhere" and marketing revenue.
It's all going to go Poof anyway. Sometime in the near future, I figure. If I run out of bullets, I can toss cans of beans at intruders.

Verizon-Yahoo! or not, the Internet is a corporate (Military-Industrial Complex) product, and always has been. No part of the Internet has ever been controlled by little folks, even in the days of UUNet. There has been, but is increasingly limited, ability to fly under the corporate radar. That will effectively disappear on the Internet in the next few years - some ability will remain in the so-called "DarkNet."
Dogman and I don't agree on much, but yes: ownership of the wire/fiber means ownership of the data - even with "encryption," all of which is accessible by the NSA and similar state-level entities.

Verizon is the bastard child of Bell Atlantic and GTE. Nothing GTE has ever been involved in has been good. And Verizon is no different.
Yahoo! has been struggling, especially under the hex, and it will get worse under Verizon. Verizon will introduce "features" and charges that will drive people away from Yahoo!
And yes, Yahoo! and AOL are now Verizon subsidiary "Oath."

Verizon has the leading wireless network for one thing alone: the bands they hold, particularly, 700 MHz. Their customer service is shit, their pricing is the highest possible, and generally, you get screwed at every turn. I'd rather deal with AT&T, and I hate AT&T.
T-Mobile recently purchased a shitload of 600 MHz (previously Talmudvision frequencies), and this will make them a contender to unseat Verizon in years to come, providing Legere doesn't abandon what is giving him success right now. T-Mobile's network effectively doubled in years past with GSM Band 12. 600 MHz will do it again.

The effect on VZ should have occurred when the purchase was first announced. In months past; closure occurred on April 18th.

Lets hope they keep the 5Ghz at bay. I'm not really liking what I'm reading about some of the health affects observed with that high of frequency. It's absolute junk for Wi-Fi, even if provided full power. It can't really go through walls that well, and 2.4Ghz does much better in that regard. Higher the frequency the more difficulty it has of passing through solid object such as concrete and metal.

While most "mainstream science" insists neither WiFi nor Cellular frequencies have health effects of "meaningful nature," those who do accept the reality have disagreement over which is worse, 2.4 or 5.0. Perhaps because 2.4 is more studied.
Personally, I use a dual-band router, and generally connect to 5.0. I get more throughput & stability, probably because I'm the only 5.0 user in the area. I do realize the limitations on range.
Both Verizon and T-Mobile are deploying "LTE-U" (5.0) significantly, and, if it proves to be useful, I'm sure other carries will deploy, too. It appears the aim is to offer "4.5G" service (higher data transfer), on the way to 5G on even higher frequencies.

I've completely turned off my 5Ghz band on my dual band router. I'm strictly using 2.4Ghz. If I need to do significant data transfer from my laptop to my server I'll plug into the network. I have various network jacks throughout the house with 1 gigabit network speeds and solid state hard drives I usually get close to 90-100mb throughput on the network. I couldn't even get that close with 5Ghz. While it does have more throughput, I just think the health affects of being exposed to 5Ghz 24/7 is a bit much.
Yeah cell providers are going to be rolling it out and don't give a shit one way or another whether it causes health concerns or not.
Only advice I can give to those who are concerned, increase your daily intake of vitamin C. 1-2 grams a day should suffice.

As we both know, microwave broadcasting is a multi-hundred-billion a year industry worldwide. Nothing but a CME or EMP will change that.

I believe in Vitamin C, but it will only help so much.
This report from the Defense Intelligence Agency from all the way back in 1976 discusses the effects on humans:

There's more recent stuff, of course, but I think this remains the most detailed and candid. This material is exceptionally valuable since the current motive to "not find" such effects did not exist for these researchers.

Agreed vitamin C will only help so much, but it has shown to increase resistance to even ionizing radiation. Studies of Chernobyl show that animals are thriving around the area. I don't think its a coincidence but the ones that are still there also make their own vitamin C via their liver. But in the same token, humans as well as a few other mammal's lack the ability to make vitamin C...
