Tiger Woods was arrested Monday for DUI in Florida, police said.
Legendary golfer Tiger Woods was arrested for Driving Under the Influence in Florida on Memorial Day, police said.
Woods, a Jupiter resident, was taken into custody at 3 a.m. Monday, according to WPTV (http://www.wptv.com/news/region-n-palm-beach-county/jupiter/golfer-tiger-woods-arrested-on-dui-charges-in-jupiter). The golfer was booked into a county jail under his
birth name Eldrick Woods, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office's website.
Woods was charged with DUI and released on his own recognizance about 10:50 a.m.
The golfer has been living Jupiter Island since 2006 after buying a $40 million estate there, The New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/01/realestate/tiger-woods-buys-40-million-estate.html?mtrref=undefined) reported.

Thanks midnight, I never knew about sanpaku eyes, and that link is a must read. I've seen some crazy f'ers with eyes like that. I remember being taught to look out for folks with cauliflower ears....now sanpaku eyes. As they say, the eyes are the window to the soul.

Having a pile of money in today's world is much more correlated with socio-political reasons than actual value to society.

is he the first person to be pinged for DUI?
Do they have degrees of DUI over there or is over is over no matter how much? We have under but still over DUI. Thats called 0.05. Then we have over over which is 0.08. Then we have defying nature, should be dead, completely shitfaced over, which is some multiple of 0.08 such as 4 times over the 0.08 limit.
Under over will get you a fine and points on your driver license. 0.08 will get you 3 months suspended and fine + any already lost points which might keep you suspended longer + maybe an insurance hike. Any more than that will get you on the news plus suspended x multiples plus fines x multiples. If you get done driving through a school zone.... .well you are a an evil witch or a scum of the earth get out of dodge kind of media lynching.... not that I disagree with that.
I think 4 DUI's = life ban. Apart from life ban you can still get a daylight driving license if DUI'd. For work purposes. See, commerce always prevails in law.
But people get done for DUI all the time and it doesn't always make the news, unless your minister for something or a celebrity. Minister of police and DUI is always ironic.
I guess once is stupid. More than that is retarded.... or something.

There are varying degrees here in the USi also but there is not a countrywide standard. Each state makes up the laws as it goes, mostly to enrich it's own systems of licensing. Some for attorneys, others for the courts and others for the licensing system. It's not about keeping anyone safe but for the money.

Tiger Woods was arrested in Florida on suspicion of driving under the influence early Monday morning. Woods released a statement Monday night.
"I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions.
I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.
I would like to apologize with all my heart to my family, friends and the fans. I expect more from myself too.
I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again.
I fully cooperated with law enforcement, and I would like to personally thank the representatives of the Jupiter Police Department and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office for their professionalism."

Tiger Woods was arrested (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4555450/Tiger-Woods-ASLEEP-wheel-DUI-arrest.html) after police found him asleep at the wheel of his 2015 Mercedes Benz early Monday morning. Authorities say Woods actually had to be woken up. His car was running and everything. According to the affidavit, Woods failed four field sobriety tests and took a breathalyzer test. He blew a .000 two times.
Woods was apparently on four prescription drugs– Soloxex, Vicodin, Torix and Viox.
The Probable Cause Affidavit also revealed that Woods was confused and had “extremely slow and slurred speech.”

So if you, or I took too many prescription vicodin's and was stopped behind the wheel of your car, just say you're sorry and it won't happen again. No harm no foul? Is that how that works?

It his defense, it sounds like he's taking responsibility for his actions. To both assure that it won't happen again, and work with authorities just like you or I would have to.
With more info on this case, it sounds like he did the right thing. Pulled the car over, and tried to sleep it off. What got him in trouble with LE, was that the car was still running when they found him. If the car was shut off, he likely would not have gotten a DUI but a slap on the wrist. That goes for us common folks as well.

Negatory on that. If the keys were in his possession even with the car off, it's a dui as far as I know. I know people that got one in that exact manner. Different state though.

I disagree, there are laws for them and laws for us, just like the Clintons. He will get off, you or I most likely would not...at least until the courts extracted their pound of flesh.

Cops found a local County Court At Law Judge passed out drunk on the trunk of his car parked well off the road, busted him for DWI anyway. This was a few years ago.

Thanks Cheka, I stand corrected...
Also, it's my understanding that if the car is safely pulled over, completely turned off, if the cop is a dick he could probably get you with a DUI if the keys were in your possession. However, no way that charge would stick and any decent lawyer would get the charges dropped.
If the car is off, and the keys not in the ignition, any decent cop would say you did the right thing by not driving the car, and quite possibly even give you a lift home. That's what we used to do.

Some rules changed. not sure of statewide but if the car isn't running and keys are out of the ignition you can't get a DUI. However other rules say that you can't be in the drivers seat even if the ignition is off.
I got popped with DUI after waiting for someone to bring me gas over an hour. He didn't return so I set out to walk home and started drinking my purchase. I was almost 2 miles away when this PIG arrested me for drunkin driving and I was on foot. Pig elbowed me in my mouth to prove what a man he was. Busted a tooth but he WAS A MAN. Fucking little punk ass dickhead. Could have taken him out in less than 30 seconds if he wasn't pointing his gun at my head. No charges filed but I benefited by a broken tooth and root canal. Not worth fucking with the legalities of this bullshit. Fuck every last one of them from my prior location.
Here they seem different and almost trustful... To a point.

There has to be more to this story..
You were drinking, while walking, that's public intoxication (if anything). Not a DUI. I find this hard to believe. If true, you did get this charged dropped, right? You don't even need an attorney to fight that. All you need to do is tell what happened. All DA's would just shake their head and drop it all. The cop (again if true) would look like the biggest idiot on the planet.

It seems to me that cops actively compete for the title 'biggest idiot on the planet' as a matter of course.

At about a mile and half away there was a corner with wood logs sort of like a fence where big trucks turned around. I took a seat and started drinking. Tried to contact the idiot that was getting gas but no connection. Drank my pint and threw in to the back of the gravel area that used to be open without the logs.
After a half hour of walking "mr I will kill you for looking at me wrong pulled over with a gun at my head "and started demanding all kinds of things. Was a complete asshat. If I met this unstabilized underweight panty wearing faggot anywhere else he would no longer be. The gun to my head kinda kept me polite. He had absolutely no legal reason for anything. Little girls with guns.... I am getting older so the best I can do is less than before but I still can decimate BS.
