Howdy folks! For those of you who haven't heard of BOLD Precious Metals (https://www.boldpreciousmetals.com), we are an online Precious Metals dealer based in Austin, TX. We are focused on offering a large and interesting inventory of silver, gold, platinum and palladium at some of the best prices on the Internet.
I am one of the co-founders and am getting the word out about a special promotion for new customers called our Welcome Packs. We have put together a very nice selection of Packs to pick from containing up to 5 oz of premium silver coins at SPOT (not generic rounds like most dealers spot promotions). There is a ONE Pack per household limit, so be sure to pick the one you like the best! While you are shopping the promotions, be sure to checkout our Specials (https://boldpreciousmetals.com/product-category/specials/) page for some impressive sale prices on a wide selection of items.
Welcome Pack Link: https://boldpreciousmetals.com/get-up-to-5oz-of-silver-at-spot/
If you decide to place an order with us, I'd encourage you to register an account on the site as it makes it very easy to track your order all the way through the process. We do accept eCheck as a payment method as well and it doesn't require any hoops to jump through before you can use it. Although we have been an active dealer on eBay for several years, our website is fairly new so I will be very interested to get your feedback, positive or negative, on what you think of the site. I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have!
As we like to say in the office: Fortune Favors The BOLD!

That sounds like a pretty good deal, but I also wonder if you accept bitcoin? Check out JM Bullion; they accept bitcoin and treat it like cash, which is why they're my preferred online vendor right now.

How many of you have ordered from them? How were your experiences? They have good at spot deals for new customers. They have a medium amount of feedback on ebay. They have a BBB page but no reviews. The reddit silver page lists concerns about checkout on their website and credit cards being charged multiple times. (Cited from: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/bold-precious-metals.296189/)

Hi Neuro, our website is currently only able to ship to US addresses. However, we are able to ship internationally on a case-by-case basis. If you contact us at info@boldpreciousmetals.com with the items you are interested in purchasing and the address you want to ship to, our fulfillment department will be able to get you a quote on the shipping fees.

Hi ximmy, just to clarify that was posted shortly after we launched the website and invited the reddit Silverbugs to check it out. Unfortunately, the rush of new orders uncovered some bugs in our checkout page. We have fully resolved those issues both technical on the site and with the customers who were affected. btw, no one was actually charged more than once for an order. What happened in a relatively few cases was that a charge authorization was made to the customer's account but the transaction failed. So the charge auth stayed on their account until their bank dropped it off according to their standard procedures, but no funds were ever taken from their account. All that to say, our cart, checkout page and payment gateways are all solid now and we've been processing orders without trouble for some time now. Let me know if you have any questions!

Nice detective work! To address your concern, BOLD is an online PM dealer without a brick and mortar store front. The separate mailbox is a necessary security feature for us. We are a very real business and are working hard to win over new long term customers with low prices on a large inventory backed up by committed customer support. Test us out by ordering one of the Welcome Packs and give us a chance to impress you. It's silver at spot and worth a shot! (see what I did there)

Co-Founder and CTO at BOLD Precious Metals -Spring, Texas - Information Technology and Services
Most of my career as an IT professional has been in the Oil & Gas Exploration sector and this has been a very rewarding experience. I've spent as much time trying to understand the key processes of O&G exploration project cycles as I have learning traditional IT skills. This focus on how the industry goes about its business, what data it consumes and generates, and the particular stresses it places on IT infrastructure has produced a unique knowledge matrix which I have leveraged to create a high performance/high efficiency technology environment for my geoscience and operations teams.
More recently I have been pursuing my growing interests in e-commerce, digital marketing, and social engagement. I am part of an entrepreneurial team that is incubating a number of exciting e-commerce enterprises. My focus right now is on building out the technology platform for BOLD Precious Metals, an online dealer of gold and silver bullion and fine coins. I am excited about this project and our plans to revolutionize how investors and collectors buy precious metal products. Stay tuned for more updates on our progress!

You surely have a warehouse you're working from. Use that address. Expecting people to trust you with large sums of money yet only offer shielded ways to contact you is pretty bold. The "security feature" excuse is pretty lame. "Security" against what, personal service? Even if you're working out of your home garage, you surely have heavy security systems/safes.
And, as Jewboo has pointed out, there's more red flags.
I'm sorry, but I cannot endorse "giving you a try." No real recourse unless one uses a credit card, and then those onerous terms would likely be used to fight the chargeback.
After Hannes Tulving, any PM dealer will need to take risks to earn customer trust.

Neither we, nor our insurance company, accepts (and we specifically disclaim) responsibility if you have left instructions with any carrier or delivery service to leave parcels for you without the need for your signature. Nor do we, nor our insurance company, accept (and we specifically disclaim) responsibility if you have given any carrier or delivery service instructions to leave your package with someone else, such as a building manager, neighbor, or a drop-off location such as Mail Boxes Etc., The UPS Store, or similar third party drop off locations. In any such case, your package will not be covered for insurance by APMEX or our insurance carrier. If you do not receive the package directly from the common carrier, you agree to take all reasonable actions to assist in recovery of the package, including but not limited to filing out reports (and/or police reports) and providing all information needed or that may be requested to assist in recovery of the package. If you do not fully cooperate in recovery efforts, neither APMEX, nor our insurance company or carrier, will have any liability to you.

Dang you guys are harsh. I don't think this guy's a scammer, he's been open answering our questions so far.
Do I think he's actively seeking to "take" people? No. Do I think that he has the proper mentality for a customer-oriented business? Hell no.
Disavowing their own mistakes? Uh, what?
I expect the Golden Rule, as I bestow the Golden Rule.
And look, he's not the only one with a privacy policy, have you ever read APMEX's policy?
No disrespect, but theirs is hardly the same thing. If one asks UPS/FedEx/USPS to leave a package without proper control/chain of custody, then one must accept the responsibility. APMEX is in no way anti-customer in stating that.
APMEX screwed up an order once, and took 100% responsibility, no questions, whining, excuses...they fixed it. No, "you agreed to our ''policy' by reading/using our website."
I think the silver spot deal is pretty good, and I ordered some silver today as well. I used a cc, and looks like it should arrive on Saturday. I'll post a review when it comes in.
For your sake, I hope all goes well. But, more importantly, I hope all goes well in one, two, three years down the road, if you or anyone else orders from them. Again: Hannes Tulving. He was great and trustworthy until he wasn't.

The punitive damages would be against the customer by a third party, incurred due to Bold's failure to perform. Say, a customer orders from Bold, to supply their own customer, and then Bold fails to provide what is promised and/or in a reasonable time frame, and the secondary customer sues the primary customer.

Hannes Tulving and Bullion Direct were once legitimate companies I did much business with who became weak and caved in. Start ups are always questionable.
There are many non brick and mortar coin dealers who are legitimate and don't post their address for obvious reasons. I know one personally. Many of them will meet you locally at a parking lot and I've done business with them that way. The one I know also does quite a lot of mail order business too.

Anyone keep up with Tulving's status? Total cease of operations, or what? I recall last year or 2015 when he went bankrupt, and IIRC he left a batch of customers holding the bag.
I ordered from him in 2004, had metal in hand the day after wiring funds. Some of you will recall from my old GIM1 thread, I had a big problem with Ross Hansen of Northwest Territorial Mint, who ceased taking or returning my calls/emails, and didn't deliver for a little over 3 months! :( WA State AG ultimately took some action against him, a couple years after I'd filed a complaint with them (and many others did too!) but AFAIK that DA action quietly went away some months later.... not aware of any punitive action being taken.

don't post their address for obvious reasons.
The "obvious" reason is to limit recourse in case of a wronged customer. Sure, they claim it's for "security," implying against robbery, but in reality it's to hide. No one in their right mind, working with high-value products, will not have major physical security in place. It's reasonable to camouflage one's physical address against the typical low-lifes, but we are seeing an active effort to completely conceal their physical location, even in legal records. Combine that with the Jew-like conditions of sale, and you've got a real mess waiting for the gullible and careless.

I never trusted Northworst Territorial Mint. The name is ridiculous, implying "official" status, and they flat-out lied to gain "credibility." They were founded in 1984, but their tagline is "America’s supplier of military challenge coins, custom minted medals, and all things medallic for over 100 years." Which is it, 1984, or over 100 years ago?

From what I have heard, the criminal investigation has not been completed yet.
The bankruptcy Trustee is going after some lawyers for money that Ross's girlfriend paid them ($500K or so). She testified in June, 2016 that she had nearly no assets (her lawyer referred to her as "destitute"), yet within less than a year sold $500K+ of metal to pay the legal bills.
As for the defamation lawsuit (one of, if not the, largest Internet defamation verdicts), it was against NWTM and Ross personally (as well as two employees IIRC).
The really amazing thing is that the Washington Attorney General went after them around 2008, and Ross/NWTM signed a consent decree which basically gave the AG's blessing to their scheme. And the AG received hundreds of complaints in recent years, quite a few showing that they violated the consent decree. Sorry folks for the delayed response. I've been focused on family time this weekend. The BOLD Terms & Conditions are pretty standard boilerplate for our industry. If you have issues with our's, I am pretty sure you'll also want to avoid APMEX, JMB, SDB and any other real bullion dealers that have a real website. My Twitter and LinkedIn profiles are public and I'm not sure if you were just posting them here or if you were trying to make a point. Either way, they are both fairly up to date and give a solid summary of where I am professionally speaking.
I get that consumers in the market are gun-shy about new dealers and we, BOLD, expect that it will take multiple transactions to build up a full measure of trust with our new customers. I think our Welcome Packs are way to kick a new customer relationship off, and then our inventory and prices will hopefully put us on the short list. After that, it's up to our customer service and order fulfillment quality to keep folks coming back.

I'm going to take a stab at it too.....
Just placed an order.... I have to say that your checkout is "clunky" to say the least. Prompted me for information I had already entered a few times, but the order appears to have gone through. Let's see how this goes....
Thanks for the order and the feedback! Our checkout page is a work in progress from a design and UX perspective. Functionality is good but we are trying to make it a more streamlined experience. If you periodically check back in with us over the next couple of months, you'll notice improvements throughout the site. What are your thoughts on the site navigation and pricing?

Received my shipment yesterday afternoon (paid extra for expedited shipping), including the 2 oz lion and griffin "queen's beasts" welcome pack at spot, which really was a good deal. Order was packed well, with all coins and bars individually packaged (no loose coins), with plenty of bubble wrap to keep things from shaking around. Overall very satisfied with my purchase, and while I mentioned earlier that currently JM Bullion is my "go to" bullion shop, if the prices are competitive, I may become a repeat customer. Thanks!

Thanks Madfranks. With your review, I spent a little more time to take a closer look.
I just placed an order for the welcome pack, Chinese Pandas, 2 coins. I've always been curious about these coins, but never wanted to pay the premium. With shipping and paying via credit card, the total price was just above $40. I went to apmex to compare. To order these two coins from them, with a credit card and shipping, the price was $65.
So, their prices are very competitive, as well as their shipping charges.
My only criticism is that the website seemed a bit slow and that made it hard to navigate. The checkout process seemed fine though.

"Bold" is nothing more than an anonymous phone number and an anonymous post office box.
If an unhappy customer needed to physically serve "Bold" with legal litigation documents...who specifically and at what physical address?

The site navigation was fine, my only issue was that it wanted a phone number and email for both the shipping and billing address, and each time it prompted me to enter one, it would erase my cc information and I had to start from scratch. I managed after a couple tries though. Looking forward to receiving my coins.....like Hitch, I choose some coins that I've always wanted, but never wanted to pay the premiums for them.

I have a LCS here that offers me great pricing and on the spot transactions, but to the extent that your company is competitive in pricing I would do business again. Have you seen any up close and personal? If they prove to be genuine I will buy some. I am always leary of some new promotion.
Edit. An ounce of silver is an ounce of silver. I won't pay a premium for a coin pressed in a state die.

All our coins are genuine. We either get them from the mint, or from a top tier supplier who gets them direct from the mint. The BOLD team personally owns what we sell too so that is another indication that we are certain our inventory is the real mccoy. I appreciate those of you who have given us a shot with the Welcome Packs and I hope you will put us on your price compare short list when you are looking to add to your stack.

No worries, I personally think that every stacker should take advantage of both the BOLD and JMB spot deals - its a great way to add 15 oz to your pile! BOLD's primary focus at launch has been on building out our inventory of silver. If we list a coin as backordered, that just indicates that while we have immediate access to it from one of our suppliers, we don't have it physically instock. We have a very efficient fulfillment system in place so most of the time, only credit card or wire transfer orders would notice any delay in shipping. Paper check or eCheck orders would in most cases ship out in the same time frame as a non-backordered item.

Hi BOLDbass,
Personally I am more focused on gold currently (top heavy in silver). This limits me in regards to online purchases. I only purchase with my credit card online, so to keep my bank info private. This limits me because of the higher price for coins when purchased online with a credit card.
I usually end up buying gold coins off of ebay, which I know has risks, but there are a lot of reputable sellers there. Plus, the price is a lot less than online dealers such as yourself and apmex.
I did a comparison. If I wanted to buy a 1 oz gold eagle right now with a credit card, here are the prices: Apmex, $1381. You (BOLD) $1363. Trusted high rated Ebay seller, $1282.
So, I can save about $100 on that coin if I went with Ebay, $80 over your price. This is the dilemma with online coin purchases.
Or....I can take cash out of the bank, and go to my local coin guy. He'd charge me maybe $1300 for a cash transaction for a gold eagle, coin in hand, and I walk out the door with it.

Hitch, thanks for the insight. I'll share it with the team. Wire transfer would be one way to avoid the CC fees without sharing your personal account information but you'd need to buy at least 5K at a time (at least with BOLD). I do want to point out that for eCheck payments on our site, we (BOLD) never see your full bank account number - it is sent directly from the checkout form to our processor's payment gateway. We can view the details of the transaction and initiate credits and refunds but the account number is never stored on our server and only the last four digits are visible to us in the gateway.

Hitch, one other suggestion you might think about is using the BillPay feature from your bank to send checks on your behalf. The bank withdraws the funds from your account and then prints a check using one of their accounts to the payee you specific and sends it to the address you specify. Its adds some time on to the process compared to just dropping a personal check in the mail, but it is much more secure. If you were to go that route on a purchase from BOLD, just give us a heads up that your check is coming from the bank and we'll extend the "payment due by" window.

Some systems withdraw the money once the recipient cashes the check.
But yes, the Bill Pay check uses third-party account information, to shield one's personal information.

This is almost my exact answer... I'll add that gold stores smaller as well. I haven't bought off Ebay for quite some time now, but not for any particular reason other than my LCD gives me fair prices (spot + 5%) on gold and I can also pay cash up to 10K a year if I choose. I do some side work and get paid in cash often, so that works for me as well.
