According to the (((news))) the plane had a structural failure at 20K ft and spiraled down from there. It must have been a hell of a ride for those that survived the initial failure. My condolences to the families.

When I first started looking this morning, (((they))) were reporting things like, " broke up mid air", " 5 mile debris field", etc.
The crash site showed on MSM is one of the most intact I've ever seen. Looks like "Sully" sitting that airliner down in the Hudson River. Other than the fact that it's a "tanker" and may have been full of fuel, contributing to the fire, the fuselage/wings, looks pretty much intact.

"The refueling tanker was loaded with explosives, keeping emergency responders at bay, a state trooper told WMC.
Investigators told WMC that debris indicated the plane exploded in midair."

Is this SOP to fly around in the CONUS with a tanker loaded with explosives?
It didn't just leave a tiny hole in the ground with no debris, you know like the one that went down in Shanksville Penn. on 9/11?

The internal aerial refueling tank holds near 4K gallons, so yeah, that would be pretty explosive once lit. oO***

At least 16 people are dead after a U.S. Marine Corps. KC-130 airplane from Tennessee crashed into a soybean field in Mississippi Monday. LeFlore County EMA Director Fred Randal told WLBT that at least 16 people died in the crash on the aircraft that departed from Memphis. LeFlore County Sheriff Ricky Banks said that 12 bodies have been recovered so far as of 8.30pm. 'Most of them are gonna (sic) be Marines,' the sheriff said. It's unclear if there were any civilians on the plan.
He also said that emergency personnel are searching for the bodies of more victims across a large debris field in the dark Monday night. Alan Hammons, an official with the Greenwood Airport, told CBS affiliate WNBD-D1 the plane was being tracked by air traffic controllers in Memphis and suffered a structural failure at 20,000 feet.
The official Twitter account of the U.S. Marine Corps. tweeted that a 'USMC KC-130 mishap occurred the evening of July 10. Further information will be released as available.'
Marine Corps spokeswoman Capt. Sarah Burns also said in a statement that a Marine aircraft 'experienced a mishap' Monday evening.
The crash was reported around 4pm just off of Highway 82 in Greenwood, Mississippi, which is roughly two hours north of Jackson
Investigators said they found debris on both sides of Highway 82 in LeFlore County, which has led them to believe that an explosion caused the crash, WLBT reported. However, nothing has been determined as the investigation into what happened is just beginning. LeFlore County deputy coroner Will Gnemi told the Clarion-Ledger that the crash site is a very rural area, and that they are searching in a field with tall vegetation for more bodies. Initial reports indicate that the Lockheed KC-130 refueling tanker may have come from the Naval Support Activity Mid-South Base located in Millington, the Clarion Ledger reported. More than 4,000 gallons of foam were used by firefighters in an effort to put out the blaze, Greenwood Fire Chief Marcus Banks told The Greenwood Commonwealth. He said that the call about the crash came in around 4pm, and that firefighters were driven away by 'several high-intensity explosions.'
Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant released a statement on his Facebook page saying: 'Please join Deborah and me in praying for those hurting after this tragedy. Our men and women in uniform risk themselves every day to secure our freedom.'
A Mississippi State Trooper told WMC: 'There's a lot of ammo in the plane. 'That's why we are keeping so far back. We just don't know what it'll do. 'It burns a bit then goes out, burns a little more then dies down.' Marcus Banks also said that the debris field is roughly five miles in radius. He added that a helicopter is looking for the bodies of the remaining victims. Aerial pictures taken by WLBT showed the skeleton of the plane burning strongly, producing plumes of black smoke visible for miles across the flat landscape of the delta.
A KC-130 (file above) is also sometimes utilized by other branches of the military to transport vehicles, personnel and equipment
Austin Jones, who owns a neighboring farm, said the fire continued after sunset.
'It's burning worse now than it was early in the afternoon,' said Jones. He said his son watched the plane go down while working on the farm and said it was smoking as it descended.
Andy Jones said he was working on his family's catfish farm when he heard a boom and looked up and saw the plane corkscrewing down to the ground.'You looked up and you saw the plane twirling around,' he said. 'It was spinning down.' Andy Jones said the plane hit the ground behind some trees, and by the time he and other reached the crash site, fires were burning too intensely to approach the wreckage. The force of the crash nearly flattened the plane, he added.

KC-130 aircraft loaded with ammunition and weapons explodes at 20,000 feet killing 15 Marines and one Navy Corpsman
KC-130 military airplane, a versatile plane which is typically used as a refueling tanker, crashed outside of Greenwood in Mississippi on Monday afternoon
The Lockheed KC-130 was transporting personnel and equipment from the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in North Carolina, to Naval Air Field El Centro, California
An official with the Greenwood Airport said the plane suffered a structural failure at 20,000 feet
A Mississippi State Trooper said: 'There's a lot of ammo in the plane' and officials found debris on both sides of Highway 82 in Leflore County
Andy Jones said he was working on his family's catfish farm when he heard a boom and looked up and saw the plane corkscrewing down to the ground
Alan Hammons, an official with the Greenwood Airport, told WNBD-D1 the plane was being tracked by air traffic controllers in Memphis and suffered a structural failure at 20,000 feet that caused it to plunge into the field
Initial findings suggest that the plane suddenly exploded mid-air.
Wreckage has been found on both sides of Highway 82, meaning an explosion most likely happened prior to the crash. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team is at the scene as a precaution in the interest of safety.
LeFlore County EMA Director Fred Randal told WLBT that investigators have already begun searching for clues as to why the aircraft seemingly dropped out of the sky from 20,000 feet.
Andy Jones said he was working on his family's catfish farm just before 4 p.m. when he heard a boom and looked up to see the plane corkscrewing downward with one engine smoking.
'You looked up and you saw the plane twirling around,' he said. 'It was spinning down.'
Andy Jones said a man borrowed his cellphone to report to authorities that there were bodies across U.S. Highway 82, more than a mile from the crash site.

Tanker (if so) carrying explosives, who would have thought! Not sure of the Kc130 configuration, have flown Kc135's using MATS and standard C130's (Kong Jumper Airlines)plus a ride along on a Ac130 gunship. C130's are tougher than nails in general, bet something stupid happened.
Sorry for the deaths, Jar heads or not.

We were on the 100 yard line just getting started when we saw it at first as a small star, then it broke up moving from the north west to south-south west from us, it seems like a long time before we heard the thunder of the multiple sonic booms that seemed to go on forever. The range was abt 40 miles north of where most of the metal rain fell.
Once seen , never forgotten.
